NBA Rules Return Violation

A player shall not touch the first ball from the front court to the back court caused by himself or his teammates during the period when his team is in possession of the ball.

When a player serves out of bounds in the fourth quarter or the last two minutes of extra time, he can pass to any position on the court without being restricted by return violations.

When the jump ball or other situations of competing for the ball right occur, neither team can control the ball. At this time, the return violation is not applicable to touch the ball.
