People's Daily Online, Beijing, April 10 (Liang Qiuping, Zhou Jingyuan) A reporter recently learned from the Ministry of Justice that on the morning of April 9, the Ministry of Justice held a meeting in Shanghai to promote the construction of an international commercial arbitration center, summarize and exchange the progress of work in the pilot areas, and make specific arrangements and arrangements for the next step of pilot work.

It is reported that the Central Commission for the Comprehensive Rule of Law will print and distribute documents in 2022 and deploy the pilot construction of international commercial arbitration centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong and Hainan. Since the pilot work was carried out, the party committees and governments of the pilot areas have attached great importance to it, effectively strengthened the overall planning of work and urged the implementation of various tasks, and the pilot work has achieved phased results.

According to statistics, in 2023, 79000 cases will be handled in the pilot construction of international commercial arbitration centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong Province and Hainan Province, with the target amount of 600 billion yuan, accounting for 52% of the total national target amount. Among them, 2251 foreign-related cases were completed, accounting for 72% of the number of foreign-related cases nationwide, and the amount of foreign-related subjects reached 137.6 billion yuan, accounting for 69% of the total amount of foreign-related subjects nationwide.

The relevant responsible comrades of the Ministry of Justice said that, in the next step, we should take the opportunity of building an international commercial arbitration center and a world-class arbitration institution to promote the high-quality development of foreign-related arbitration, foreign-related legal services, and foreign-related legal work, and contribute more legal force to Chinese modernization.
