Recently, Professor Zhang Runtong from the School of Economics and Management of Beijing Jiaotong University received a congratulatory letter from Professor Klaus Mainzer, President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. After the Council voted, Professor Zhang Runtong was elected an academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (Department of Technology and Environmental Sciences).

It is committed to promoting academic upgrading and exchanges within European countries and between Europe and the world, especially encouraging interdisciplinary integration of science, technology and humanities. It has seven academic departments, namely humanities, medicine, arts, natural sciences, social sciences/law and economics, technology and environmental sciences, and world religions. Among its more than 2000 members, the Academy has 38 Nobel Prize winners. It is one of the academies with the highest proportion of Nobel Prize winners among the global academies of science, and enjoys a high reputation in the field of science and art worldwide.

Dr. Zhang Runtong is a second class professor of management science and engineering at Beijing Jiaotong University and a doctoral supervisor. Chief expert of major programs of the National Social Science Foundation of China and key programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China; Winner of Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award and the "Outstanding Young Teacher Funding Program" of the Ministry of Education. He is also the Secretary General of the Teaching Steering Committee for E-Commerce Specialty in Universities of the Ministry of Education, a visiting professor of Henry Business School, University of Reading, UK, and a lifelong researcher of the Swedish Institute of Computer Science. His main research directions are big data driven modern management and decision-making, artificial intelligence and operations research, e-commerce and enterprise informatization, etc. He has published more than 450 papers, 46 academic monographs and higher education textbooks in these fields, and has 20 domestic and international patents in the field of next-generation information technology. Presided over and undertook more than 100 scientific research projects, including major projects of the National Social Science Fund, key projects and general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 863 Program, funds and projects entrusted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, Beijing Municipality and enterprises; Person in charge of the first "National Excellent Course" and "National Excellent Resource Sharing Course" of e-commerce; He has served as the general chairman of international academic conferences for more than 20 times.
