On May 21, Shimen Tunnel 1 of Shanghai Chongqing Chengdu High speed Railway in Dangyang, Hubei Province was successfully completed. So far, 25 tunnels along the whole line of Wuyi Section of Shanghai Chongqing Chengdu High speed Railway have been completed, refreshing the progress for the next step of completion and opening to traffic.

Shimen Tunnel 1, with a length of 1366 meters, is one of the control projects of the whole line, with a single tunnel and two lines. Shanghai Chongqing Chengdu High speed Railway is one of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway backbone channels, with a total length of about 2100 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Shanghai Chongqing Chengdu High speed Railway passes through six provinces and cities, including Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Chongqing and Sichuan. The completion of the project will facilitate the development of many cities along the line and further serve the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
