"I will come here every once in a while to have a look. Looking at the project construction every day, I am happy from the bottom of my heart and hope to move into the new house as soon as possible." Yuan Caixia, a resident outside the construction site of the reconstruction project of the dilapidated old house in Yao's compound, is full of expectations for moving into the new house.

Yaojia Courtyard is located in the center of the old urban area of Tongchuan District, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province. Most of the houses are 3-5 storey sand brick buildings, which were built in the 1970s and 1980s. Many of the houses were identified as dangerous buildings of Class C and D. With the development and renewal of the city, the security problem has become increasingly prominent. The Yaojia Courtyard can no longer meet the needs of residents to live in peace, and the transformation is imminent.

In September last year, Dazhou City launched a three-year campaign to renovate dilapidated houses, and formulated and introduced an action plan. Tongchuan District, as the main urban area of Dazhou, focuses on the urgent needs of the people, and establishes the goal of "dynamic clearing of dangerous houses, safe and comfortable living", which will benefit the people throughout.

"Tongchuan District resolutely implements the action plan, and strives to make the general public feel more secure and comfortable living in peace," said Li Zhurong, secretary of Tongchuan District Party Committee.

It is understood that the Yaojia Courtyard area involves five regional plates, covering a total area of 37.7 mu, with a planned total construction area of about 109000 square meters, involving more than 1160 people in 420 households, and a demolition area of 56100 square meters. After the reconstruction of the project, three residential buildings, one comprehensive building and four storey commercial buildings along the street will be built, which will effectively improve the living conditions of residents and facilitate the living facilities nearby.

The reconstruction project of dilapidated houses in Yaojia Courtyard area is implemented in the way of "70% government investment and 30% public investment" according to the actual situation of Tongchuan. Residents also enjoy the priority to purchase 20% of the original housing area. "The government launched the renovation of dilapidated houses, so that people can enjoy the benefits," said resident Jian Chuanbi.

The implementation time of the old renovation project is tight and the task is heavy. Tongchuan District set up a front-line headquarters and a policy advisory office at the first time. A total of 30 staff from five working groups stick to the front-line. The working group went deep into the courtyard and dam to publicize policies, and carried out household negotiation, area mapping and identification work separately and simultaneously. Set up a special team to listen to the public opinion, visit the people, ask the people for advice, and solve the people's worries, and finalize the site and handle it quickly. Yao Family Yard completed 100% contract signing in three days, vacated houses in five days, and constructed houses in two days.

Up to now, in the project area, all the staff residential buildings of New Tiantai Pharmaceutical have been signed, the Jinling Electrical Appliance Factory and the Agricultural Machinery Bureau have completed the demolition, the site leveling of buildings 3 and 4 of the Hongqi Hotel and Yaojia Courtyard project has been fully completed, the pile drivers have been mobilized for construction, and the project is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2025.

It is understood that Tongchuan District has included 24 demonstration projects in the Action Plan for the Reconstruction of Dangerous and Old Houses in the Central City of Dazhou, covering an area of 2.46 million square meters and benefiting 25000 households. At present, many projects have achieved node breakthroughs, and the "dream of living in peace" of 25000 families is gradually coming true.
