There is a Chinese martyr cemetery in Danwal village in the eastern suburb of Gilgit, northern Pakistan. From 1966 to 1978, China assisted Pakistan in building the Karakoram Highway. In the past 12 years, hundreds of Chinese engineers and technicians gave their lives, 88 of whom were buried here. Since 1978, Ahmed and his father have guarded the cemetery here and cleaned the cemetery every day. The picture shows Ahmed wiping the monument.

The Karakoram Highway passes through the lofty and precipitous Karakoram Mountains. A large number of sections are located in high and cold mountains with complex geological conditions. The construction of bridges and tunnels is difficult and dangerous. There are many commemorative landmarks set up by Pakistan along the road to inherit the friendship between the two countries. The picture shows a car driving on the Karakoram Highway.

In May, the Hongqilafu Pass, which is 4733m above sea level, is still covered with snow. Hongqilafu Port is the only land port between Pakistan and China, and also the port with the highest altitude in the world. Driven by the high-quality co construction of the "Belt and Road", the port has become a witness to the deepening of Pakistan China economic and trade cooperation.

The Karakoram Highway overlaps with the ancient Silk Road. Archaeologists have found cultural relics and relics along the highway, including copper coins of the Tang Dynasty in China and stone carvings left by envoys of the Northern Wei Dynasty during the Southern and Northern Dynasties. The picture shows the ruins of the ancient Silk Road beside the Karakoram Highway.

There is a blue sky between the towering snow peaks, and the road at the foot cuts through the ridge and extends far away. Starting from Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, climb over mountains. When you look back, you will reach the end of the trip - Hongqilafu Port on the border between Pakistan and China, with an altitude of more than 4700 meters, when the Mangmang Snow Mountain is at your feet. This shocking journey is 870 kilometers in total, of which more than 600 kilometers are driven on the "Pakistan China Friendship Road".

In the 1960s and 1970s, Chinese engineers overcame difficulties and obstacles to build an "impossible" road to help Pakistan open up the northern material transportation and trade corridor, turning the natural chasm into a thoroughfare.

Because of the complex geological conditions, the construction of the Karakoram Highway is not only difficult, but also full of dangers. In Gilgit Cemetery of Chinese Martyrs, 88 Chinese engineers sleep here for a long time.

With this road, the economic activities in the areas along the road are more and more active, and the residents have closer contact with the outside world. Driven by the high-quality co construction of the "Belt and Road", the Karakoram Highway Phase II Project will be officially opened to traffic in 2020, ushering in new development opportunities for Pakistan.

On the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, we once again embarked on the "Pakistan China Friendship Road", and we truly recognized the quality of Pakistan China "iron" friendship. It is expected that the traditional friendship between the two countries will further develop in the new era, so that the Karakoram Highway will not only connect the trade between the two countries, but also connect the hearts of the people of the two countries.
