Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, May 10 (with the permission of the reporter) In response to the recent update and revision of the "Fact List of US Taiwan Relations" on the website of the United States Department of State, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on the 10th that this practice of political manipulation on the Taiwan issue and trying to change the status quo of the Taiwan Strait would certainly ignite fire.

Zhao Lijian made the above remarks when answering relevant questions at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the same day.

He said that there is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the Government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China, which is the common consensus and recognized norms of international relations in the international community. History cannot be tampered with, facts cannot be denied, and right and wrong cannot be distorted. The United States made a solemn commitment to the Taiwan issue and the one China principle in the three Sino US joint communiques. Now, the revision of the "Fact List of US Taiwan Relations" is a small move to falsify and hollow out the one China principle. This practice of political manipulation on the Taiwan issue and trying to change the status quo in the Taiwan Strait will certainly ignite fire.

Zhao Lijian said that the United States should abide by the one China principle and the provisions of the three Sino US joint communiques, abide by the political commitment made to China on the Taiwan issue, implement President Biden's statement that the United States does not support "Taiwan independence", and stop political manipulation and "using Taiwan to control China.".
