In May last year, the main responsible comrades of Taiyuan Municipal Party Committee held a research forum on the problem of parking difficulties for the masses. Taiyuan set up a special work shift with 11 departments including the Municipal Urban and Rural Administration Bureau, 10 counties (cities, districts) and the main leaders of the Municipal Longtou Group as members to coordinate and promote various work and alleviate the problem of parking difficulties for residents.

In order to find out the number of parking space gaps, Taiyuan Urban Management Bureau organized the real estate service (management) center in three counties, one city and six urban districts, the municipal real estate leasing management service center and the professional team to carry out a thorough investigation of parking space in residential areas in the city. More than 1400 night time limited parking berths have been set up on 20 roads such as Huanwang North Lane. In addition to 3088 night time limited parking spaces set up on 67 roads such as Houjia Lane in recent years, Taiyuan has 87 night time limited parking spaces, which can park more than 5400 vehicles at night.

"From 19:00 every day to 7:00 the next morning, citizens can park their vehicles in the night parking space for free. Overtime parking will be fined, which alleviates the problem of people parking at night in some old communities and high-rise densely populated residential areas." said Wen Kai, deputy director of the Traffic Strategy Research Office of the Traffic Police Detachment of Taiyuan Public Security Bureau.

As it takes time to build a new parking lot, Taiyuan pays attention to making full use of the existing land resources. The Urban Management Bureau of the city, together with Longcheng Development Investment Group Co., Ltd., used the space under the viaduct and idle land in the city to add 21767 crossed parking spaces.

Next, Taiyuan will revitalize idle land and increase parking resources. For the land planned to be a public parking lot, the government will collect and store it to build a public parking lot; For the corner vacant land, the transitional parking lot shall be constructed first; For temporarily idle collective land, all urban areas shall organize the construction of temporary parking lots.

In addition, the Measures for the Administration of Rental and Sale of Parking Spaces and Garages in Real Estate Development Projects encourage eligible old residential areas to open parking spaces to the public. The "Taiyuan Travel" APP in Wang Xinya's mobile phone is an application software developed by Taiyuan to alleviate parking problems and improve the quality of life of citizens.
