In order to deeply study, publicize and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and improve the comprehensive cultural literacy of college students, on the afternoon of March 31, 2023, the party branch directly under the library and the party branch of teachers in the underground department of the Civil Engineering College, the party branch of undergraduate students in the underground department of the Civil Engineering College, and the party branch of graduate students in the underground department of the Civil Engineering College jointly carried out the red "1+1+1+1" branch characteristic activity, With the theme of "following the footsteps of academicians and feeling the spirit of science", we visited the Special Collection Department of the Library and learned the donated books of academician collection of academician Wang Mengshu.

At the beginning of the activity, under the leadership of all party branches, students visited academician Wang Mengshu's work materials on the sixth floor of the library, and understood the spiritual connotation of academician Wang Mengshu's "virtue first, based on practice, bold in innovation, solidarity and cooperation, and caring for the country". Teacher Meng Wenjun from the Special Collection Department of the Library explained academician Wang Mengshu's academic achievements and academic spirit in combination with his notes, learning materials and subsequent scientific research achievements during his schooling, so that students can feel the academician spirit closely. Then, Zhou Zhenliang and Jin Dalong focused on the achievements of Academician Wang Mengshu in the field of tunnel and underground engineering. Then, based on the rich collection of books in the library, the students talked about their learning experiences and insights on Academician Wang Mengshu's scientific achievements and scientific research spirit.

Under the guidance of the library teacher, the students came to the seventh floor of the library to visit Academician Wang Mengshu's special bookshelf. Here, students actively read academician Wang's works and deeply felt the essence of knowledge contributed by academician Wang Mengshu as an academic leader. In addition to instructing students to read, teachers also encourage students to study science and culture, serve the people and serve the motherland when they finish their studies.

The students who participated in this activity all said that they had learned a vivid lesson. Both the library's rich collection of books and the teachers' earnest teachings benefited the students.
