Information literacy education

Course Introduction

The courses of Information Retrieval, Scientific and Technological Literature Retrieval and Patent Application and Innovation Practice in the series of information literacy courses are scientific methods courses to cultivate students' information awareness and improve their ability to retrieve, obtain, evaluate and use literature information. At present, the courses offered by Beijing Jiaotong University Library include:
1) Undergraduate Science and Technology Literature Retrieval (8 class hours, 0.5 credit)
2) Postgraduate Information Retrieval (16 class hours, 1 credit)
3) Undergraduate course Patent Application and Innovation Practice (8 class hours, 0.5 credit)

Awards:
In 2016, the postgraduate course "Information Retrieval" won the second prize of Beijing Jiaotong University's teaching achievements
In 2020, the undergraduate course Science and Technology Literature Retrieval was recognized as the first batch of "offline first-class courses" of Beijing Jiaotong University

Teaching staff

Wang Xinghua, associate research librarian, currently works in the Consulting Department of the Library of Beijing Jiaotong University, and began teaching Scientific and Technological Literature Retrieval and Information Retrieval in 2002; Sci-tech novelty search; Information consultation, etc.
Li Dejuan, Bachelor of British and American Literature, Master of English Language Translation and Theory Practice, was awarded the title of Excellent Lecturer of English Teaching at Beijing Jiaotong University. Currently, he is mainly engaged in the teaching of Information Literacy Instruction for international classes, Information Retrieval for graduate students, and Science and Technology Literature Retrieval for undergraduate students; Library foreign language database resource management; Sci-tech novelty search; Information consultation, etc.  
Zhao Xiujiao, Bachelor of Law and Master of Library and Information Science. Engaged in the teaching of Scientific and Technological Literature Retrieval and Information Retrieval; Intellectual property information service; Sci-tech novelty search; User training; Information consultation, etc.
Jiang Hong, graduated from Xi'an University of Technology with a bachelor's degree in mechatronics; Graduated from Xi'an University of Technology with a master's degree in mechanics; He graduated from Xi'an Jiaotong University with a doctor's degree in mechanical manufacturing and automation. He currently works in the Library Consulting Department of Beijing Jiaotong University, mainly engaged in the teaching of Scientific and Technological Literature Retrieval and Information Retrieval; Patent information service; Sci-tech novelty search; Discipline service; User training and information consultation.
Liu Xin, a librarian, graduated from the Department of Economic Law of Beijing Jiaotong University with a master's degree in 2010, and has been working in the library consulting department since graduation. Mainly engaged in the teaching of Scientific and Technological Literature Retrieval and Information Retrieval; Chinese database management; Patent information service; Scientific and technological novelty search, etc.
Fang Xiangyu, a librarian, graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering of Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in engineering; In 2013, he graduated from the Department of Bridge and Tunnel Engineering of Beijing Jiaotong University with a master's degree in engineering. He is now working in the Consulting Department of the Library of Beijing Jiaotong University, engaged in the teaching of Scientific and Technological Literature Retrieval and Information Retrieval; Patent information service; Sci-tech novelty search; Reader training, etc. Participated in the compilation of the textbook "Practical Course of Scientific and Technological Literature Retrieval" (undergraduate volume), which was jointly compiled by Beijing Hi tech Alliance and won the "First Prize for Excellent Teaching Materials" issued by the Ministry of Education's University Library and Information Work Steering Committee.
Qu Qianqin, a librarian, graduated from Beijing Jiaotong University with a master's degree in industrial engineering in 2013, and now works in the Library Consulting Department of Beijing Jiaotong University. Engaged in the teaching of Scientific and Technological Literature Retrieval and Information Retrieval; Scientific and technological novelty search, information consultation, etc.
Li Shuai, librarian, Master of Science degree, patent agent qualification. Mainly engaged in patent information services and teaching of Patent Application and Innovation Practice. Presided over one special fund project of Fundamental Research Funds for Central Universities of Beijing Jiaotong University.
Liao Lifang, a librarian, graduated from Beijing University of Chemical Technology with a master's degree in materials science and engineering in 2012, and obtained a master's degree in engineering and the qualification of patent agent. Currently, he is working in the library consulting department of Beijing Jiaotong University, engaged in teaching management; Patent information service; Information consultation, etc. Participated in 2 university level scientific research projects.
