Xinhua News Agency, Hong Kong, May 23 (Reporter Huang Qiantian, Lei Jiaxing) In the activity of "Jointly promoting the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area and sharing the opportunities of strategic hinterland construction - 2024 Guangxi Hong Kong trip" held recently, China ASEAN cooperation has become an important area of concern. Among the signed projects, the projects cooperating with the China ASEAN Industrial Cooperation Zone accounted for 61.54% of the total and 66.63% of the total contract investment.

Participants believed that Guangxi is the "bridgehead" of China's opening up and cooperation with ASEAN, and ASEAN has long been Hong Kong's second largest trading partner. Guangxi and Hong Kong can deepen cooperation in industries, science and technology, finance and other fields, give full play to their complementary advantages, and work together to expand new opportunities for China ASEAN cooperation.

Guangxi has a unique geographical advantage of "backing the southwest, adjacent to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and connecting to Southeast Asia". In recent years, cooperation with ASEAN in various fields has been deepening. The China ASEAN Expo and the China ASEAN Business and Investment Summit have been held in Guangxi for 20 consecutive times. Hong Kong and Macao have both organized high-level delegations to participate, and a number of projects have been launched and grown.

In the opinion of Li Wenjun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hong Kong Liwen Paper Co., Ltd., Guangxi will accelerate to build an important strategic hinterland of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and continue to expand its opening up to the outside world, which will bring broader development prospects and business opportunities for Hong Kong enterprises, and will be even more conducive to expanding overseas markets, especially Southeast Asia markets.

"Hong Kong enterprises can take advantage of the cumulative rules of origin in the RCEP region and the shortest and most convenient industrial supporting distance between Guangxi and ASEAN to set up factories and build bases in Guangxi, expand the ASEAN market nearby, and fully enjoy the dividends released by RCEP," said Wen Yingyi, president of the Hong Kong Guangxi Association.

Wen Yingyi believes that Guangxi enterprises can use Hong Kong's diversified platforms to achieve overseas financing, listing and M&A activities, and can also use Hong Kong's good marketing channels and rich experience to jointly "compete with Hong Kong's service industry". Hong Kong's advantages in capital, technology, talent, market, management, etc., combined with Guangxi's advantages in location, resources, ecology, environment, etc., help promote in-depth cooperation between the two places in different fields, and work together to open up international markets such as ASEAN.

Since 2023, Guangxi has vigorously promoted the construction of border industrial parks and China ASEAN industrial cooperation zones with the support of the state. Zou Zhanye, member of the Party Leadership Group of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government and director of the Reform and Development Office of the Autonomous Region Industrial Park, extended an invitation to Hong Kong enterprises from the aspects of co building the industrial park, investing in the manufacturing industry of the park, developing and expanding new quality productivity, improving financial services, and developing international trade.

Bai Songtao, director of the Development and Reform Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that he sincerely invited Hong Kong entrepreneurs to work together to build an industrial cooperation system of "Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area R&D+Guangxi Manufacturing+ASEAN Market", and to jointly promote the construction of a number of major innovation carriers around new materials, artificial intelligence, Chinese medicine health, marine economy and other fields, so as to realize the industrialization of Hong Kong R&D achievements in Guangxi.

"I am confident that Guangxi and Hong Kong can further deepen cooperation and jointly create more economic opportunities by 'sailing together'," said Li Jiachao, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
