People's Daily, Hong Kong, May 22 (Reporter Chen Ran) The 8th International Conference of the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption was unveiled at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on the 22nd. At the opening ceremony, the ICAC signed memorandums of understanding on cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and anti-corruption agencies in four countries, reflecting solid international exchanges and cooperation in promoting integrity.

This international conference, co organized by the ICAC and the International Association of Anti Corruption Authorities, will be held for three days in a row under the theme of "a new road for an honest world". The International Association of Anti Corruption Authorities was established in 2006 to promote the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption and promote international anti-corruption cooperation. More than 170 institutions around the world have joined it.

Li Jiachao, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, saying that under the unique advantages of "one country, two systems", Hong Kong maintains a sound regulatory system that is in line with international standards, and has become a global anti-corruption pioneer with a clean and efficient government, a fair business environment, a sound rule of law, an independent judiciary and zero tolerance for corruption.

In 2023, Hong Kong will be ranked 9th in the World Justice Project's ranking of corruption, and 14th in Transparency International's ranking of corruption index. Li Jiachao said that the SAR government fully supports the ICAC to expand international contacts, cooperate with more overseas agencies, and enhance and consolidate Hong Kong's anti-corruption leadership.

It is reported that 2024 will be the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption. With the formal establishment of the Hong Kong International Institute against Corruption at the beginning of the year, the Independent Commission Against Corruption, the Institute and the International Association of Anti Corruption Authorities have built a solid "iron triangle" against corruption.

Hu Yingming, President of the International Association of Anti Corruption Authorities and Commissioner for Integrity in Hong Kong, said in his speech that according to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, global anti-corruption partners continue to cooperate to improve anti-corruption effectiveness, and the ICAC will fully cooperate with the country and international partners to build a clean Silk Road. "Whether now or in the future, the successful fight against corruption always depends on the unity of all parties and joint efforts to meet various challenges. This international conference provides a good platform and opportunity to strengthen international anti-corruption cooperation."

This international conference attracted more than 500 representatives from nearly 60 jurisdictions and about 180 anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies to sign up for the conference to discuss the current challenges and countermeasures in the field of anti-corruption, international cooperation, public-private cooperation, youth integrity training and other topics.
