Macao Holds 2024 "World Telecommunication and Information Society Day" Series Activities

People's Daily, Macao, May 17 (reporter Fuzimei) In order to celebrate the "World Telecommunication and Information Society Day" set by the International Telecommunication Union, the Macao Special Administrative Region Post and Telecommunications Office held a celebration ceremony and a special lecture in Macao on the morning of May 17. Luo Liwen, Secretary of the Department of Transport and Works of the Macao SAR Government, presided over the opening ceremony, and Liu Huiming, Director General of the Macao SAR Post and Telecommunications Bureau, delivered a speech.

Liu Huiming said that the theme of this year's ITU is "digital innovation for sustainable development", which aims to draw public attention to how digital innovation can help social sustainable development and encourage all sectors to jointly build a smart city.

In line with the theme of "digital innovation for sustainable development" this year, the Macao Post and Telecommunications Office arranged a special lecture on "digital innovation for sustainable development", inviting experts and scholars from the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, as well as industry representatives to discuss and share experiences around the theme, so as to deepen the understanding of the driving role of ICT in promoting sustainable development in Macao, Inspire everyone to actively use ICT technology and introduce various innovative applications to help Macao's intelligent construction and development.

It is reported that the Macao Post and Telecommunications Office distributed the commemorative cover of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day free of charge on May 17, providing commemorative postmark service at the General Post Office. In addition, Macao telecom operators set up booths at the celebration site to display the theme of this "World Telecommunication and Information Society Day" and launch various preferential activities.
