Xinhua News Agency, Yinchuan, May 8 (Reporter Ai Fumei, Liu Zhen) Writing brush characters, tie dyeing fabrics, learning to play tai chi... On July 7, 90 teachers and students from six Hong Kong secondary schools and local students at Yinchuan No. 6 Middle School in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region experienced the school's characteristic literacy class.

"The first time I tried tie dyeing, I felt very interesting and experienced." Xie Anqi, a student of Kwai Chung Methodist Middle School in Hong Kong, said that the students of No. 6 Middle School were very friendly and had been helping themselves, and soon became one with them.

It is reported that the five-day exchange activity of "Ningxia History, Culture, Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Exploration Tour" for Hong Kong middle school students began on the 6th. Yinchuan No. 6 Middle School is an important stop. Hong Kong teachers and students visited the school's maker space, functional classroom, psychological counseling room, etc.

"I like the geography classroom in this school very much. Many models can let students learn geography more vividly, not just by the words in the textbooks." Lin Xitong, a student at Qiu Zuorong Middle School of the Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association, said.

Different from the coastal scenery of Hong Kong, Ningxia is located in the northwest inland, with magnificent natural scenery. This activity allowed Hong Kong students to see a lot of scenery that they could not see before and learn about the diverse cultures of the motherland, breaking their stereotype of Ningxia.

"The transportation here is convenient and the infrastructure is perfect. It is neither as desolate as the northwest as imagined, nor different from Beijing, Shanghai and other metropolises." Lin Xitong is looking forward to the next desert trip, hoping to use this rare opportunity to experience different ethnic customs and cultures.

Previously, students could only read in books and listen to the teacher in class. This trip to Ningxia made geography and history classes "live". Lin Aishi, a teacher at Qiu Zuorong Middle School, said: "Hong Kong students rarely come to the northwest. After seeing the Helan Mountain rock paintings, the students were amazed."

The exchange activity was jointly organized by the Ningxia Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office and the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Hong Kong teachers and students will also go to Xixialing, Shapotou, Qingtongxia Yellow River Grand Canyon and other places to learn about the history and culture of Ningxia, appreciate the Yellow River and desert landscape, cultivate Hong Kong students' national identity and foster patriotism.
