Chen Guoji, Chief Secretary for Administration of the SAR Government, said after the meeting that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The SAR Government will launch an activity with the theme of "love our country, love our Hong Kong and love our community". Now, the SAR Government is making full efforts to carry out relevant preparations, and will closely communicate and coordinate with the working group to create a warm atmosphere in Hong Kong society, so as to enhance the patriotic consciousness of Hong Kong citizens.

The patriotism education working group, established on the 8th of this month, is subordinate to the Steering Committee for the Promotion of the Constitution and the Basic Law of the SAR Government. It aims to coordinate the government departments and non-governmental organizations in the SAR to promote patriotism education, connect with the contents of the Patriotic Education Law of the People's Republic of China, strengthen the education of the country's history, culture and national conditions at different levels, and inherit and carry forward the spirit of patriotism, The focus of work is divided into four categories: school education, local community, history, politics, economy and culture, and media publicity.

Chen Guoji, who is also the chairman of the Steering Committee for the Promotion of the Constitution and the Basic Law, introduced that the working group determined at its first meeting that it would carry out diversified education activities to make patriotism rooted in Hong Kong society and popular sentiment, taking into account the actual situation of Hong Kong and aiming to promote patriotism and Hong Kong as the core value of Hong Kong. The specific work points include: carrying out diversified educational activities beyond the curriculum in primary and secondary schools to stimulate students' interest; By introducing the country's history and development achievements and other soft ways, students can identify with the country emotionally; Better integrate and coordinate the strength of the SAR government and civil society, and make good use of civil resources and networks to play a synergistic effect.

Li Huiqiong, the leader of the working group on patriotism education and a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said that the working group will closely coordinate with relevant departments in the near future to inject elements of patriotism education into the activities of the Special Zone on the 75th anniversary of the National Day and highlight the spirit of patriotism. She also introduced the various measures determined by the working group after referring to the Patriotic Education Law of the People's Republic of China, covering school education, extracurricular practice, experience activities, cultural activities, museum education, memorial ceremonies, traditional festivals, mass media, and civil servant training.
