People's Daily, Zhengzhou, August 15 (Chang Liyuan) On August 15, Wuliling pear in Dongzhou Township, Lushan County, Henan Province had a bumper harvest, and each tree had fruitful fruits, bending the branches.

Yang Shouzhen, a 74 year old man from Sunshine Orchard in the township, said that his family had planted more than 1000 pear trees on the barren mountain. This year, there was plenty of rain and enough light, and the pears grew happily. The fruits were big, juicy, sweet and crisp. Due to the impact of the recent epidemic, the sales of fruits are not good. My granddaughter, who is still in college, received some express delivery orders on her mobile phone and sold many of them. The fruits are sweet and ripe. I hope that the epidemic will pass soon and the harvest will be good in the year of harvest.

Wuli Ridge is a mountain range with a length of 5 kilometers from north to south in Dongzhou Township, northwest of Lushan County. It is famous for producing crisp pears. Wuliling is adjacent to Zhaoping Lake in the south and shallow mountains and hills in the north, forming a unique microclimate with fresh air, rich water sources, sufficient sunlight, and a variety of mineral elements in the soil, which is suitable for the growth of pear trees. The unique geographical and soil advantages form the good quality of Wuliling crisp pear, which is delicate in meat, juicy with little residue, crisp and sweet. There are 23 administrative villages, including Caizhuang Village, Tiejiazhuang Village, Haogou Village, Jiaozhuang Village and Yangshugou Village, adjacent to Wuli Ridge. The planting area of pear trees is 56000 mu, and more than 20 varieties are planted, such as red crisp, rain and dew fragrance, red sun, emerald, late autumn yellow, garden yellow, yellow crown and autumn moon. The annual output is 150 million kg, and the annual output value is more than 300 million yuan, It has directly driven 873 poverty-stricken families to increase their annual income by more than 6000 yuan. It has become the largest selenium rich pear base in Lushan County, with obvious effects on poverty alleviation, and is one of the top ten leading industries for poverty alleviation in the county. In 2020, "Wuliling crisp pear" passed the expert review and became the national agricultural product protected by geographical indication.
