On May 23, more than 40 representatives from all walks of life walked into the Wuhan Power Supply Company of the State Grid, visited key power transmission and transformation projects, smart charging and changing power stations, and distribution network non-stop operation sites and other representative projects, felt Wuhan's strong "green new momentum", made suggestions for the development of Wuhan Power Grid, and promoted the solution of key and difficult problems.

The representative came to the construction site of the 500kV Jiangbei power transmission and transformation project located in Dongxihu District, Wuhan. The power transmission and transformation project surrounded by residential quarters, urban roads, pocket parks and other facilities is the first 500kV substation in the urban area of Wuhan.

The staff carefully showed the delegates many highlights of the key project of "bringing power from outside to Han": the first 500 kV indoor substation in central China, whose floor area was 50% smaller than that of the conventional 500 kV substation, was built according to the highest standard of "green three-star", the whole station was equipped with low-noise equipment, three layers of electromagnetic shielding measures, and the appearance design was perfectly integrated with the surrounding landscape, Finally, the 500kV Jiangbei substation will be built into a landmark project to ensure people's livelihood, green environmental protection and harmonious coexistence.

Lv Wen, deputy director of the Research Institute of State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company, introduced that the 500kV Jiangbei substation, which goes deep into the urban load center, is a key and pivotal project of Wuhan Power Grid "UHV close to the city and UHV into the city". It will provide superior power supply for many sub level substations to be implemented, which is a prerequisite for more than 30 first-class grid key projects. It is planned to put into operation and deliver power before and after the summer peak in 2025. After the project is put into operation, the capacity of Wuhan Power Grid to absorb clean energy in the northwest will also be greatly improved, providing sufficient momentum for the high-quality economic and social development of Hankou urban area in the next 10 years.

In recent years, the State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company has strengthened the cooperation between government and enterprises, clearly giving priority to the power grid government enterprise joint construction mode, which is the first nationwide "Wuhan mode" of power grid joint construction. The civil works and passageways of the substation shall be constructed in batches with the government's investment in advance, and the power supply company shall complete the electrical construction as required. The civil works of the substation will be purchased by the power supply company later, and the channel will be used by the power supply company free of charge.

In 2023, the production capacity of Wuhan power grid will be 4.04 million KVA, more than half of the production capacity during the "13th Five Year Plan" period. This year, 5.1 million KVA is expected to be put into production, which will reach a new high.

According to the goal put forward by the leading group for building a world-class urban power grid in Wuhan, during the "Three Year Challenge" (2023-2025) of power grid construction with the cooperation of government and enterprises, three UHV projects near the city and three UHV projects into the city will be promoted; By the end of 2025, the capacity of transformers put into operation and under construction will reach 60 million KVA, the high-voltage capacity load ratio will be increased to 2.0, and more than 100 substations will be put into operation accumulatively.

When the construction site of the 500kV Jiangbei power transmission and transformation project was transferred from the "hot" to the first five-star charging and changing power station of the State Grid in Wuhan Economic Development Zone and the first five-star charging and changing power station in Hubei - the Triangle Lake charging and changing power station of the State Grid, several liquid cooled super charging piles on the site attracted the attention of many representatives.

According to the staff of the charging and changing station, the maximum output power of the liquid cooled super charging pile is nearly 9 times faster than that of the ordinary charging pile, the maximum output can reach 1 second and 1 km, and it can run 300 km in 5 minutes. Compared with the air cooling of general charging piles, liquid cooling has higher heat dissipation efficiency, and is more stable and safe to charge.

At the power exchange point in the station, representatives observed the whole process of "power exchange is more convenient than refueling" of new energy vehicles: after the power exchange process was started, the vehicle was slowly lifted, and the battery replacement equipment under the chassis was put into operation. After the battery in the vehicle was taken out, the vehicle was slowly put down. Then, when the replaced full cell battery runs in place, the vehicle is slowly lifted up, then the full cell battery is loaded, and the vehicle is put down. The whole battery replacement time is about 2 minutes, of which the time for taking out and installing the battery is only about 50 seconds. This power exchange efficiency was an eye opener for delegates, who praised it one after another.

In recent years, the State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company has closely followed the national energy development strategy to build a charging and changing network system of "moderately advanced, reasonable layout, standardized management, reliable technology, stable operation, and convenient service", boosting the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry, and creating more demonstrative and leading green new energy projects. Including the first State Grid intelligent charging and changing complex integrating stereoscopic parking, group charging and group control, photovoltaic energy storage, V2G and power exchange station in China, the "optical storage charging and changing" Nantaizi Lake super charging and changing station, which is the first application of advanced liquid cooling super charging equipment in Hubei Province. State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company is building a "Wuhan model" for a new generation of intelligent low-carbon charging station.

At present, the State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company operates 524 charging stations and 3946 charging guns, with a cumulative charging capacity of 32.37 million kWh, up 57% year on year. Horizontally benchmarking Hangzhou, Suzhou, Chengdu and other similar cities, the company's charging pile ownership and charging capacity rank among the top in the country compared with similar enterprises.

On the pole, the scene of two "fully armed" live working workers wearing insulating clothing, insulating gloves and helmets carrying out operations in the scorching sun attracted the visiting delegates to experience the scene. After dressing neatly, the delegates sighed: "Wuhan's summer is always 37 or 8 degrees. How hard it must be to wear heavy equipment to carry out complex live working!"

The State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company regards the distribution network as the "main battlefield" for high-quality development of the power grid, and promotes the construction of four smart distribution network demonstration areas, namely, Jinyin Lake, Wuchang Core A+, East Xinguang Valley, and Huangpi Panlong, with high standards.

In order to better improve the power consumption experience of enterprise customers, Wuhan Power Supply Company of State Grid fully promotes live working and load transfer in project construction, equipment maintenance and other businesses. In 2021, take the lead in the pilot project to completely cancel the 10 kV planned blackout operation in the four new areas of Hanyang and the Doubu area of Hannan.

At present, Wuhan has achieved full coverage of urban and county uninterrupted power services, reduced 620000 households in total during power failure, and increased the proportion of uninterrupted power operations from 30% to 95%. In 2023, Wuhan Power Grid successfully built three "zero plan power cut demonstration areas", including Hankou Binjiang, Hanyang Sixin and Wuchang Fruit Lake. In 2024, the State Grid Wuhan Power Supply Company plans to further expand the construction of the "Zero Plan Power Cut Demonstration Area" to all main urban areas, as well as East and West Lake Jinyin Lake and Zhuankou.
