On January 4, in the potato planting base in Chahai Village, Languan Township, Weng'an County, large growers were seizing the sunny weather to mechanically plant potatoes. Agricultural machinery and hand driven integrated planters were shuttling back and forth in the field to sow potatoes.

Potato can not only be used as vegetable, but also as staple food. It is a high yield and high benefit crop with high economic benefits and market prospects. The person in charge of the base, Wu Dinggang, made full use of the land resources to plant new potato varieties Feiwuruita and Huishu No. 1, and used an integrated planter and plow to fully promote potato planting, so that the winter fallow fields will not be idle.

Wu Dinggang said, "This year we planted more than 200 mu of potatoes, and bought an integrated planter. Using this machine can save costs compared with labor. It costs about 15 to 16 mu a day, and each mu can save more than 300 yuan compared with labor planting."

In recent years, Weng'an County has combined its own favorable conditions to realize the mechanization of potato planting through the introduction of excellent potato varieties and advanced machinery, effectively improving the level of standardized planting and agricultural production efficiency, greatly saving production costs, laying a foundation for improving the per unit yield of potatoes, so that the people can truly enjoy the benefits of agricultural modernization.

"This year, we will vigorously promote mechanized potato sowing, which can achieve the integration of fertilization, sowing, ridging, and film covering, so as not to be short of nests and broken rows, and ensure the emergence of seedlings in a neat and even manner. This year, we will mainly promote early maturing potatoes such as Feiwuruita and Huishu No. 1, which have good commodity quality, early listing, and good prices.
