Qixingguan District, located in the northwest of Guizhou Province, is the seat of Bijie Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. It is located in the intersection area of Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou and Chongqing, and is an important material distribution center in southwest China.
The territory is high in the west and low in the east, with an average altitude of 1511 meters and a land area of 3412 square kilometers. In November 2011, it was removed from county-level cities into districts, governing 8 townships, 24 towns, 11 streets, 517 administrative villages (212 communities, 305 village committees), inhabited by 23 ethnic groups, including Han, Yi, Miao and Hui, with a total population of about 1.65 million.
