19 people died in a landslide on the Chayang section of Guangdong Meida Expressway

People's Daily Online, Guangzhou, May 1 (Wang Yadie) The reporter learned from the Meizhou Public Security Bureau of Guangdong Province that at about 2:10 a.m. on May 1, the K11+900m road (Chayang section of Guangdong Meida Expressway) from Meizhou to Fujian on Guangdong Meida Expressway (S12) collapsed and was closed in both directions.

According to the Publicity Department of Dapu County Party Committee in Meizhou City, after the accident, the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Guangdong Province attached great importance to the rescue work. The province and the city made every effort to carry out the rescue work, set up the on-site headquarters for accident rescue, and invested about 500 people in the on-site rescue of public security, emergency, fire protection, health, transportation, mine rescue teams, etc.

As of 11:45 on May 1, through on-site verification, 18 vehicles were trapped (no dangerous vehicles, buses and other large vehicles were found), and 49 people were involved, 19 of whom were killed, 30 of whom were under full treatment in hospital, without life danger temporarily. The length of the collapsed road surface is about 17.9 meters, and the area is about 184.3 square meters.

At present, the rescue is still in progress.
