"Since the implementation of the Beijing Tianjin Hebei coordinated development strategy for ten years, a series of landmark achievements have been made." Liu Baokui, director of the Regional Cooperation Office of the Institute of Land Development and Regional Economy of the China Academy of Macroeconomics, and a researcher, said in an exclusive interview with the People's Daily Online reporter that what made him feel most directly and profoundly was the significant progress made in joint prevention and treatment of regional ecological environment, These achievements have greatly improved the well-being of residents.

"The air and scenery here are very good. We just walked along the river and felt relaxed and happy." A resident of Tongzhou District, Beijing, told the reporter that from the drainage ditch to the "ecological river", the water environment, water ecology and water landscape of the Dayun River have changed significantly in recent years. In recent years, the three regions of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei have jointly managed the canal ecology, promoted tourism and navigation, and strengthened joint regulation and control of water resources, making the Grand Canal an important ecological corridor in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.

The reporter noticed that on the eve of the Tomb Sweeping Day, Tongzhou District of Beijing also took the opportunity of the tenth anniversary of the Grand Canal's successful application for World Heritage and the tenth anniversary of the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei to launch three distinctive clocking routes with the theme of "flower appreciation+", attracting many tourists to visit. Liu Baokui further introduced that, in terms of water environment governance, the Beijing and Hebei governments have also signed two rounds of horizontal ecological compensation agreements, strengthened the ecological protection of the upper reaches of Miyun Reservoir and Guanting Reservoir, and established a working mechanism for water pollution prevention and control of rivers across provinces (cities) in Baiyangdian Basin. The water environment of the three places has completely eliminated the inferior V section, and Beijing Miyun Reservoir and Huairou Yanqi Lake have been selected as the outstanding cases of beautiful rivers and lakes in China.

In the coordinated development of Beijing Tianjin Hebei ecological environment protection, air pollution has always been the most important part of the first breakthrough. According to the data released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, in 2023, the average annual concentration of PM2.5 in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei will decrease by 64.2%, 57.3% and 64.3% respectively compared with that in 2013. In 2023, the days of heavy pollution in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei will be reduced by 50, 37 and 69 days respectively compared with 2013, and the pollution degree will be significantly reduced.

"In terms of air pollution control, the concentration of major air pollutants in the three cities has significantly decreased, and the number of days of heavy pollution has significantly decreased." Liu Baokui said that this is due to a series of major initiatives jointly taken by the three cities, including joint legislation, unified planning, unified standards, coordinated pollution control, and promoting structural optimization of energy, industry, transportation, etc, We will jointly carry out air pollution campaign in autumn and winter, establish a cooperation mechanism for air pollution prevention and control in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and surrounding areas, and regularly hold forecast meetings.
