People's Daily Online, Beijing, September 21 (Reporter Wang Lianxiang) Today, the State Council Information Office held a press conference on the sustainable development of China's transportation. Wang Xiuchun, the head of the Department of Transportation Services of the Ministry of Transport, said that the Mid Autumn Festival and National Day holidays in 2023 will last for 8 days from September 29 to October 6, and the toll roads across the country will continue to exempt small buses with less than 7 seats (including 7 seats) from tolls, The free period is from 0:00 on September 29 to 24:00 on October 6.

Wang Xiuchun introduced that, taking into account such factors as holiday travel rules, holiday duration, weather conditions, Asian Games watching and so on, it is estimated that the passenger flow during the Mid Autumn Festival and National Day holidays this year will have the following characteristics:

From the perspective of travel flow, the overall flow is relatively large. In combination with the passenger flow monitoring and the advance booking of passenger tickets, it is expected that the family visit flow and tourism flow will overlap at a high level during the holiday period, and the demand for long-distance travel across regions will increase significantly. Compared with the same period in 2022, the turnover of people and passenger traffic for business in the whole society have increased significantly. It is estimated that the average daily flow of national highways will increase by more than 40% year on year, and the national highway flow on the first day of the holiday may exceed the historical peak.

In terms of time distribution, travel time is more concentrated. The first day of the holiday is the Mid Autumn Festival. The concentration of outbound passenger flow will be higher than that of inbound passenger flow, and the travel demand for family visits will be released in a centralized manner. The peak of highway travel during the whole holiday is expected to occur before and after September 29, with relatively high traffic pressure on the road network.

From the perspective of spatial distribution, the travel space is relatively concentrated. During the holiday, central cities and key tourism cities will become the hot spots for travel. Beijing Tianjin Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, Chengdu Chongqing Double City Economic Circle and other regions have relatively large road network flow. Freeways around large and medium-sized cities are more concentrated, and some sections may be congested and slow down.

In view of these characteristics, the transportation department will strengthen the research and judgment of passenger flow demand, improve the transportation organization plan, strengthen the delivery of regional transport capacity such as passenger transport hubs and key tourist attractions, strengthen the connection between urban and rural passenger routes and railway trains, civil aviation flights, and waterway passenger routes, and fully meet the holiday travel needs of the masses of the people. At the same time, the Ministry of Transport will release passenger flow information in time to strengthen travel guidance.

Wang Xiuchun suggested that the first thing is to plan travel, reasonably select travel destination, travel mode and travel time, pay attention to travel dynamic information, free travel policy, and rationally skip peak and avoid peak travel; The second is to travel in a civilized manner, consciously abide by the order of the traffic place, follow the guidance of the station and the train staff, orderly enter and exit the station, purchase tickets, check security, wait for the bus, and take the bus, and jointly create and maintain a good travel environment; The third is to travel safely, consciously choose regular passenger vehicles to travel, and actively wear the "life belt" of seat belts during the journey. Self driving personnel should pay real-time attention to the weather changes in the passing areas.
