Xinhua News Agency, Urumqi, May 23 - On May 23, the third special stage (SS3) of the 2024 China Round Tower International Rally ended in Maigaiti County, Xinjiang. The sandstorm on that day significantly reduced visibility, and many riders lost their way in the race.

Affected by the sandstorm, the organizing committee shortened the distance from 283 km to about 150 km. The starting point of the stage is the same as that of the SS2 stage, and the overall geomorphic characteristics are similar.

In terms of the automobile group, Tao Yongming, the driver of Jiujiang Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Club in Qian'an, Hebei, was the first to reach the end of the stage, and Han Wei, the driver who ranked 12th, finished the race second. During the competition, the serious sandstorm caused great trouble to the participants, and the visibility was only about 20 meters at one time.

Wu Zhenxuan, of the British Bell Lubricants Jidao Sports Team, told reporters that he was lost for half an hour in the middle of the race.

In terms of motorcycle team, French rider Neles Tyric of the Excelle off-road motorcycle team once again took the lead in finishing the race. He said after the race: "Although today's race schedule has been shortened, the sand in the track is very soft, coupled with severe sandstorms, it can be said that this is still a 'long' race day."

On the 24th, drivers will welcome the first rest day of this round tower. (Reporter Dai Ziluan, Sun Zhe)
