People's Daily Online, Beijing, May 23 (Liu Yingying, intern Ding Yajie) On May 17 and 18 local time, the performance delegation of Beijing People's Art Theatre "Our Jingke" presented two consecutive excellent performances to local audiences at the Yugoslav Theatre in Belgrade, Serbia's capital, successfully completing the first appearance of Chinese drama in Belgrade.

Our Jingke, written by Mo Yan and directed by Ren Ming, is a Chinese story with traditional Chinese aesthetic style and modern spirit. It has appeared on the world stage many times on behalf of Beijing People's Art Theatre. Its speculative theme, romantic, aesthetical and classical stage form, and intelligent and humorous lines make this work span language and culture, and trigger a warm response from audiences around the world.

This performance in Serbia is the first play for Beijing People's Art Theatre to go abroad again and restart its international tour. It is also a new beginning for Beijing People's Art Theatre to continue to perform Chinese stories on the world stage, spread Chinese culture and promote international cultural exchanges. Wang Wenguang, head of the performance delegation and secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Beijing People's Art Theatre, said, "We hope that through this performance and related exchange activities, we can further promote international cultural exchanges and cooperation with Serbia and other countries, and make efforts and contributions to building a" common destiny for China and Serbia in the new era. "

It has been 13 years since the first performance of "Our Jingke", and after more than 80 rounds of polishing, all the actors still treat the new play with attitude and carefully polish the details. Wang Ban, Jingke's actor, said, "Serbia's' China craze 'has attracted great attention to Chinese culture and drama. We hope that through Our Jingke, the audience can see the artistic style, aesthetic concepts and forms of expression of Chinese drama."

On the night of the first performance, Mo Yan, the screenwriter, and Li Ming, the Chinese ambassador to Serbia, attended the performance. After the performance, Mo Yan expressed his gratitude to the Beijing People's Art Theatre and the Yugoslavian Theatre, and shared that "it is a great happiness that a writer's works can be put on the stage, and it is a greater happiness that a writer's works can be brought by actors to perform abroad. This play was written 21 years ago and still has vitality, because it can remind us of real life. "
