According to the Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics, the Department of Science and Technology of Shanxi Province has recently approved the establishment of five Shanxi provincial laboratories, among which the "Shanxi Provincial Laboratory for Scientific Archaeology and Cultural Relics Protection", which was established by the Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics and the Shanxi Provincial Archaeological Research Institute, was included.

The laboratory aims to respond to the needs of the national "14th Five Year Plan" for cultural relics protection and scientific and technological innovation planning and the strategic needs of scientific and technological innovation of cultural relics in Shanxi, solve the problems and bottlenecks in scientific and technological archaeology and cultural relics protection, and focus on breaking through the research directions of scientific and technological archaeology, protection of unearthed cultural relics, protection of ancient buildings, protection of painted murals, and protection of grotto temples, We will carry out research on the application basis and cutting-edge technology of scientific and technological innovation in cultural relics in relevant fields, scientifically build a scientific research platform for scientific and technological archaeology and cultural relics protection with Shanxi characteristics, and comprehensively improve the scientific and technological level and cultural relics protection ability in the work of cultural relics and archaeology.
