According to the data released by the Macao Special Administrative Region Government on the 6th, Macao received about 605000 passengers during the May Day holiday (May 1-5) in mainland China, with a daily average of 121000 passengers, including 154000 visitors to Macao on May 3, the highest single day entry recorded during the holiday. This year, the average number of inbound tourists to Macao during the May Day holiday increased by 23.2% year on year.

In terms of tourist source structure, 487000 tourists visited the mainland of Australia during the holiday, 78000 tourists visited Hong Kong, 8000 tourists visited Taiwan and 32000 international tourists visited Hong Kong. In addition, during the May Day holiday, Macao recorded a total of 2.989 million people entering and leaving the country, with a daily average of 598000 people, up 12.7% year on year.

According to industry data, the average occupancy rate of Macao's hotels during the May Day holiday was 89.2%, up 4.5 percentage points over the same period last year. The occupancy rate on May 2 was the highest, 95.1%.

On the eve of the holiday, the Tourism Bureau of the Special Administrative Region Government actively publicized the characteristics of Macao, introduced various preferential policies, and made every effort to expand the source of tourists. During the holidays, the Tourism Administration will issue publicity messages at relevant ports, and make a leaflet of "Safe Travel to Macao", which will convey relevant messages to passengers through the industry and travel agencies to remind them of the matters they should pay attention to when participating in a tour group.

During the holidays, the Security Police Department of the SAR Government kept close communication with the border inspection departments of the Mainland and Hong Kong, and the overall customs clearance was safe and orderly. The police strengthened patrolling in various tourist areas, and implemented timely crowd and traffic control measures to ease the flow of people and vehicles. With the active cooperation of citizens and passengers, the public security in Macao was good.
