People's Daily Online, Beijing, December 26 (Reporter Wei Yanxing) On December 25, the final of the third national newspaper editing and proofreading skills contest hosted by the State Press and Publication Administration and organized by the China Press and Culture Promotion Association was held in Beijing. Shanghai, the second team of the central press in Beijing, Jiangsu, Liaoning, Anhui, Hubei and other six teams won the first prize.

In order to further improve the overall quality of the press and publication team and enhance the professionalism of newspaper editors, the State Press and Publication Administration launched the third National Newspaper Editorial Skills Competition in September this year. The competition aims to enhance the political literacy and professional ability of newspaper editors and editors, promote learning and work through competition, and provide talent support for better shouldering the new cultural mission and building a socialist cultural power.

The competition is divided into two stages: the preliminary and the final. Participants are editors and proofreaders of newspapers and periodicals. The competent press and publication departments of all provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and the central newspaper publishing units in Beijing set up their own preliminary contest areas, and nearly 5500 athletes from all over the country participated in the preliminary contest. After many levels of selection, a total of 36 teams entered the finals.

The purpose of the National Newspaper Editing and School Skills Competition is to find, train and motivate a group of high-level editorial and school skills talents, and promote the high-quality development of the newspaper industry in the new era and new journey. The contest has been held since 2016 and has become an important platform for national newspaper editors to show their style, learn skills and enhance their skills.
