People's Daily Online, Beijing, June 13 (Reporter Lin Lu) Recently, the staged achievements of "Peking University Lecture Hall · Yungang" Youth Creativity Workshop and Wuyan Garden Report Exhibition jointly hosted by Peking University Centennial Hall and Yungang Research Institute were held in Beijing. The 64 students from the Youth Creative Arts Workshop, with the theme of "Yungang Classical Art", re created from music and dance, video, art design and other aspects, and interpreted the profound understanding of Yungang culture in a cross media way.

As a world cultural heritage, Yungang Grottoes are the artistic treasure of Chinese civilization, as well as the historical witness of national integration and cultural interweaving. "Through research, my friends and I have a more comprehensive understanding of the Yungang Grottoes statue art. These experiences have cultivated our sense of identity, cultural self-confidence and national pride in traditional culture." said Xiao Xizhi, a 2021 undergraduate from Yuanpei College, Peking University.

Liu Jianbo, Vice Minister of the Academic Affairs Department of Peking University and Vice President of Yuanpei College, said that the "Peking University Lecture · Yungang" Youth Creativity Workshop project was officially launched in March 2024, aiming to create a cross professional, interdisciplinary and inter school cooperation and development platform for young students, and further promote the protection and dissemination of China's excellent traditional culture.

Hang Kan, president of Yungang Research Institute and professor of the School of Archaeology, Culture and Museum of Peking University, said that the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage cannot be separated from the participation of young people, from interdisciplinary exchanges, and more importantly, it needs to keep pace with the development of the times. It is hoped that more young people will pay attention to and love the cause of cultural heritage protection through social practice.

At the event site, more than 100 young students were exposed to the historical tunnel created by digital art, felt the historical context, enjoyed the audio-visual feast, and cultural self-confidence took root in the hearts of young people.
