A few days ago, Shaanxi Province announced the proposed list of 2023 national online quality courses for vocational education, and Xi'an Aviation Vocational and Technical College (hereinafter referred to as Xi'an Aviation Vocational and Technical College) successfully selected the professional course Aeroengine Principle and Structure.

The reporter learned that since its establishment 68 years ago, the Vocational College of Western Airlines has adhered to the road of aviation characteristic development, guided by the cultivation of craftsmanship, built a national professional group of "aircraft electromechanical equipment maintenance" and "UAV application technology", and cultivated a large number of outstanding high-quality technical and skilled talents for China's aviation industry.

Learning knowledge from textbooks and learning skills in practice

Aircraft maintenance personnel are aircraft maintenance engineers, just like "doctors", who diagnose and treat various systems and parts of the aircraft, so as to ensure the safe flight of the aircraft.

Aeroengine Principle and Structure is the core course of aircraft electromechanical equipment maintenance specialty in higher vocational colleges, as well as the core course of aircraft engine maintenance technology and other specialties. The reporter learned that according to the typical work tasks of aircraft engine maintenance enterprises and the feasibility of teaching, Xi'an Airlines Vocational College has constructed three progressive modules for the course, namely, basic knowledge of aeroengines, structural composition and characteristics of aeroengines, overall structure of aeroengines and auxiliary systems, which are divided into 11 teaching scenarios and 58 tasks, totaling 72 class hours.

Wu Dong, the leader of the aircraft electromechanical equipment maintenance specialty of the Aviation Maintenance Engineering College and the course leader of Aero Engine Principle and Structure, told the reporter: "Most of the students we have trained work as maintenance personnel in airlines and aviation maintenance enterprises, and have strong hands-on ability."

In order to establish a reform system that integrates teaching and doing, and enable students to gain knowledge and learning skills in practice, the professional courses of Aeroengine Principle and Structure are equipped with a national virtual simulation training base, a provincial aeroengine maintenance training base, and a provincial training base for highly skilled talents The enterprise has cooperated to establish the Aviation Maintenance Industry College and 12 off campus practice and training bases.

Entering the 1600 square meter campus training base, the reporter saw more than 50 planes lined up. The school has purchased more than 30 retired civil aviation engines. "This is an early piston engine. We also have turbojet, turbofan, turboprop, turboshaft and other types of engines." Wu Dong is as familiar as a book.

In order to solve the problems of no real object, great danger and high cost in aviation maintenance training, Xi'an Airlines Vocational College also invested 5 million yuan to build a digital laboratory. In the class of Aeroengine Principle and Structure, students can use the virtual reality technology in the digital laboratory to observe the internal structure and working system of the engine. The laboratory is also equipped with a 3D aircraft simulator reproduced at a scale of 1:1, so that students can "get on board" at any time on the basis of mastering the theory.

The reporter learned that the team of aircraft electromechanical equipment maintenance teachers was approved as the national college Huang Danian style teacher team and the national vocational education teacher teaching innovation team, and two teachers were employed as experts and judges in the national vocational college skills competition.

On duty after graduation

Gao Beixiong, secretary of the General Party Branch of the Aviation Maintenance Engineering College of Xi'an Airlines Vocational College, said, "We should train a group of students who have both morality and technology. They should not only have good morality and technology, but also have the ability to endure hardship, be patient and be loyal to enterprises."

In order to enable students to get their licenses without leaving school, Xi'an Airlines Vocational College invested 15 million yuan to build a civil aircraft maintenance training base. At the same time, the school set up a special "147 classes". Students of this class can obtain the Civil Aircraft Maintenance (CCAR-147) License during their school days. If the student gets the license during school, it means that the student has been qualified to repair the aircraft, realizing the seamless connection from school to enterprise.

Entering the training base of Xi'an Airlines Vocational College, students majoring in aircraft electromechanical equipment maintenance are carrying out maintenance practice courses on a Boeing 737 aircraft. "It's shocking that I can touch the planes that have flown in the front line at school!" Hua Zhenliang, a junior student, carried out starter oil service with a maintenance sheet. He is one of the first batch of "147 Class" graduates, and has signed a contract with Spring Airlines Co., Ltd. this year.

Zhang Chao, president of the Aviation Maintenance Engineering College and head of the national Huangda Nian style teaching team, said that synchronizing academic education with vocational education qualification training not only effectively promotes student employment, but also significantly reduces the cycle and cost of training maintenance personnel in enterprises.

"Since 2023, '147 classes' will send more than 200 professionals to many civil aviation companies every year," said Shi Xiaoying, director of the enrollment department of Xi'an Airlines Vocational College. According to the data, the implementation rate of graduates of Aviation Maintenance Engineering College has remained above 97% all the year round.
