In May, the fields in the Hungarian Great Plains are fragrant. At the gracious invitation of President Shuyuk and Prime Minister Orban, I will pay a state visit to Hungary soon. This is when I set foot on this beautiful and rich land again after 15 years. In the past 15 years, I have met with Hungarian leaders who visited China many times and forged deep friendship with them. I look forward to revisiting the old place, talking about friendship and cooperation with Hungarian friends, and drawing a new blueprint for the development of China Hungary relations in the new era.
Hungary has beautiful scenery, outstanding people and profound historical and cultural heritage. Patriotic poet Pei Duofei's poems are well known, and Liszt, the "King of Piano", is impassioned in his music. The Hungarian people are industrious, intelligent, open and inclusive. They are bold in pioneering and innovative. The invention and creation of ballpoint pen, hologram, magic cube and so on are all shining points in the process of human civilization.
Although China and Hungary are thousands of miles apart, the friendship between the two peoples has a long history. In the special period of responding to the international financial crisis and fighting against the COVID-19 epidemic, the two peoples stood by and helped each other through thick and thin, and wrote touching stories. The traditional friendship between China and Hungary is like Hungary's Tokay wine, which is sweet and mellow.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, bilateral relations have maintained steady and healthy development and achieved tangible achievements. The two sides adhere to mutual respect, equal treatment, mutual benefit and win-win results, regard each other as priority partners, and in the ever-changing international situation, they are not afraid of wind and rain, not afraid of power, and walk on the right path of independent and friendly exchanges with foreign countries by sovereign countries.
For 75 years, China and Hungary have insisted on being good friends. Both sides adhere to the original intention of establishing diplomatic relations, always respect and support each other's independently chosen development path, always understand and support each other's core interests and major concerns, and always welcome the continuous progress of their national development and national revitalization. The two sides have established a high level of political mutual trust, and bilateral relations have entered the best period in history, entering the "golden channel".
For 75 years, China and Hungary have insisted on being good partners for win-win cooperation. The two sides focus on high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road", strengthen the in-depth docking of the two countries' strategies, deepen practical cooperation in investment, infrastructure construction, finance, new energy, communication technology and other fields, and jointly inject impetus into the world economic recovery. Today, Hungary is the first destination and important trading partner of China's investment in Central and Eastern Europe. The cooperation between the two countries has yielded fruitful results and glowed with vitality.
For 75 years, China and Hungary have insisted on being good friends of mutual learning. The Beijing Hungarian Cultural Center has operated well for many years, and the Budapest Chinese Cultural Center is about to officially operate. Many Chinese universities have opened Hungarian language majors. Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms are popular in Hungary. Budapest Hungarian Chinese Bilingual School has cultivated a number of successors to inherit the friendship between China and Hungary. The local exchanges were active, and the weekly direct passenger flights to and from the two countries reached double digits, and the measures to facilitate personnel exchanges continued to take effect. The pace of people to people and cultural exchanges between the two countries is getting bigger and bigger, and the foundation of people to people friendship is getting stronger and stronger.
At present, both China and Hungary are in an important period of their respective development. China is striving to promote high-quality development and high-level opening up, and comprehensively promote the great cause of building a strong country and national rejuvenation with Chinese style modernization. Hungary is also working hard to seek greater development. I hope that through this visit, I will continue the traditional friendship and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Hungarian leaders to push China Hungary comprehensive strategic partnership to a new height.
——We should carry forward traditional friendship and consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations. High level political mutual trust is an important cornerstone of China Hungary relations. China is willing to take the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries to make a top-level design of bilateral relations with Hungary from a strategic and long-term perspective, consolidate the positive momentum of high-level exchanges, support the governments, legislative bodies and political parties of the two countries to maintain regular exchanges and policy communication, firmly support each other's core interests, and provide a solid political guarantee for the high-level development of China Hungary relations.
——We should strengthen the docking of development strategies and create new highlights of practical cooperation. China is willing to promote the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative and the in-depth docking of Hungary's "opening to the east" strategy, and accelerate the promotion of major cooperation projects such as the Hungarian Cypriot railway. China will continue to promote high-level opening up, and is willing to strengthen cooperation with Hungary in clean energy, artificial intelligence, digital economy, green development and other emerging fields, cultivate new quality productivity, and serve their high-quality development.
——We should continue to expand people to people and cultural exchanges and deepen the public opinion base of bilateral relations. People to people connectivity is the source of the development of China Hungary relations. China is willing to continuously expand exchanges and cooperation with Hungary in education, culture, tourism, sports, youth, media, local and other fields, support language teaching between the two countries, make full use of the mutually established cultural center platform, and encourage various personnel and institutions to strengthen exchanges and interactions. China is willing to work with Hungary to continue to improve their visa facilitation, expand direct flights between the two countries, and create more favorable conditions for personnel exchanges between the two countries.
——We should jointly lead regional cooperation and stick to the correct direction of China EU relations. The cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries conforms to the trend of the times and the general trend of development, serves the common interests of China and Central and Eastern European countries, and also provides a useful complement to China EU relations. Recently, China EU relations have shown a steady and positive momentum of development. As comprehensive strategic partners, China and the EU share broad common interests. Cooperation outweighs competition, and consensus outweighs differences. Both sides have the responsibility to jointly provide more stability for the world and more impetus for global development. China is willing to work with Hungary to lead China CEEC cooperation to a deeper and more practical level, and promote China EU relations to a stable future.
——We should strengthen exchanges in international affairs and work together to meet global challenges. At present, the century long changes in the world are accelerating, and various global challenges are emerging one after another, which requires the joint efforts of the international community. China and Hungary share similar views and positions on international and regional situations. We should adhere to solidarity and cooperation, vigorously promote the common values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom for all mankind, practice true multilateralism, actively advocate an equal and orderly world multipolarity and inclusive economic globalization, continue to promote the building of a community of human destiny, and inject more positive energy into maintaining world peace and promoting common development.
There is an old saying in China that "those who have the same ambition do not regard mountains and seas as the distance". Hungarian friends often say that "good friends are more precious than gold".
