Our newspaper, Belgrade, May 8 (Reporter Du Shangze, Ren Yan) On the morning of May 8 local time, President Xi Jinping held talks with President Vucic of Serbia at the Serbian Building in Belgrade. The two heads of state announced that they would deepen and enhance China Serbia comprehensive strategic partnership and build a community of common destiny in the new era.
Belgrade in May is sunny. In front of the Serbian Building, the national flags of China and Serbia are flying in the wind, and the honor guards are powerful and magnificent. When Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived by car, Serbian President Vucic and his wife Tamara warmly welcomed them at the drop off.
Wu Qiqi held a grand welcome ceremony for Xi Jinping. The two heads of state boarded the reviewing platform together, and the military band played the national anthems of China and Serbia and fired 10 salutes. Xi Jinping, accompanied by Wu Qiqi, reviewed the guard of honor. The two heads of state shook hands with each other's escorts one by one.
Wu Qiqi accompanied Xi Jinping to the platform of the government building. After the welcoming ceremony, the two heads of state held small scale meetings and large scale talks respectively.
Xi Jinping pointed out that I am very happy to visit the beautiful Serbia again after eight years at the invitation of President Vucic. President Vucic led several important government officials to the airport to greet me, especially the grand welcome ceremony held for me just now, which deeply moved me and deeply felt that the Serbian people are good friends of the Chinese people and have sincere friendly feelings towards China.
Xi Jinping stressed that the iron friendship between China and Serbia has gone through the test of international changes and has a profound historical background, a solid political foundation, broad common interests and a solid foundation of public opinion. In recent years, Mr. President and I have jointly led the bilateral relations to achieve leapfrog development and historic achievements. In particular, since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Serbia in 2016, the connotation of bilateral relations has become richer and the extension has continued to expand, which has become a model of friendly relations between China and European countries. Actions speak louder than words. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Serbian side to continue to share weal and woe, share a common destiny, uphold the spirit of iron friendship, adhere to and develop China Serbia friendship, jointly safeguard the fundamental and long-term interests of the two countries, pursue their respective national development and national revitalization side by side, and work together to promote the establishment of a community of common destiny between China and Serbia in the new era.
Xi Jinping stressed that Serbia is China's first comprehensive strategic partner in Central and Eastern Europe. The cooperation between the two sides has injected strong impetus into their respective development and revitalization and brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. Under the new situation, Serbia has become the first European country to jointly build a community of common destiny with China, which fully reflects the strategic, special and high level of China Serbia relations. In the new era, the China Serbia community of common destiny is the sublimation of the iron friendship between China and Serbia, and also represents the common values and goals of both sides, namely, seeking common development, win-win cooperation and mutual achievements. This is the common vision of China and Serbia and all countries in the world that adhere to independence, pursue peace and development. The two sides should continue to deepen and expand high-quality co construction of the "Belt and Road" and China CEEC cooperation by building a community of common destiny between China and Serbia in the new era, so as to help their respective modernization processes.
First, highlight the strategy of bilateral relations and grasp the general direction of bilateral relations. China supports Serbia's adherence to independence and development path suitable for its own national conditions, and its efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both sides should continue to firmly support each other, deepen strategic cooperation, and safeguard their political security and fundamental interests.
Second, adhere to the pragmatism of bilateral cooperation and work for the well-being of the two peoples. China Serbia high-quality cooperation in building the "Belt and Road" has yielded gratifying results. The two sides should solidly promote cooperation in traditional fields such as transportation and energy infrastructure, achieve the goal of opening the whole line of the Serbian section of the Hungarian Serbian Railway on schedule, jointly operate major cooperation projects between the two countries, create more "small and beautiful" livelihood projects, and continue to release positive economic and social benefits. The China Serbia Free Trade Agreement will come into force on July 1 this year, and the high level of mutual opening between China and Serbia will certainly enter a new stage. China will continue to expand the import of high-quality agricultural products with Serbian characteristics, and is willing to invite 300 Serbian teenagers to China to study and exchange in the next three years. Welcome the Serbian side to open more direct flights from Belgrade to Shanghai and comprehensively deepen people to people and cultural exchanges.
Third, carry forward the innovation of bilateral relations, open up new cooperation prospects, and build innovative cooperation into a new growth point of bilateral relations. China will support 50 young Serbian scientists to visit China for scientific research exchange in the next three years, and is willing to strengthen cooperation with Serbia in the field of artificial intelligence to promote the rational development and application of artificial intelligence for all mankind. We should jointly oppose hegemonism and power politics, group politics and camp confrontation, uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, practice genuine multilateralism and promote international fairness and justice.
Vucic extended his warmest welcome to President Xi Jinping and said that China is Serbia's most sincere friend. Serbia is a small country, but China has always fully respected Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and provided valuable support for Serbia's economic and social development. President Xi Jinping is a great world leader. Under the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has made remarkable achievements, become a beacon of world development and progress, and increasingly plays an important leadership role in international affairs. The Communist Party of China not only seeks happiness for the Chinese people, but also benefits the people of the world. The Serbian people are full of gratitude and respect for China, especially President Xi Jinping, and feel heartfelt pride and pride for being an iron friend with a great country like China. The Serbian side firmly supports China's legitimate position on issues of core interests such as Taiwan. There is only one China in the world, and Serbia will continue to firmly support China without hesitation or wavering.
Vucic said that China's investment and cooperation have greatly promoted Serbia's economic and social development, and also improved the living standards of the Serbian people. Especially since 2016, with the personal care and support of President Xi Jinping, the Smederevo Steel Plant of Hegang has achieved great economic and social effects, which not only completely changed the fate of the steel plant, but also enhanced the confidence and hope of the people. Serbia's future is closely linked to China. The Serbian side looks forward to closer exchanges with the Chinese side in all fields and at all levels, and strengthening cooperation in infrastructure, new energy, innovation, artificial intelligence, people to people and cultural exchanges and other fields. After the talks, the two heads of state jointly signed the Joint Statement on Deepening and Upgrading China Serbia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Building a Community of Shared Destiny in the New Era, and jointly witnessed the exchange of several bilateral cooperation texts in the fields of jointly building the "Belt and Road", green development, digital economy, e-commerce, infrastructure, economic technology, information and communication, agriculture, food, media and other fields.
The two heads of state also jointly met with journalists.
At noon of the same day, Vucic and Tamara held a grand welcome banquet for Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan in the Serbian mansion.
