"Morphine" is often known as a drug. In fact, as early as 1806, German chemist Zeertina had separated it from opium for the first time and named it "morphine" after Morpheus, the Greek god of dreams. In fact, morphine and its derivatives (morphine hydrochloride) are the main drugs for relieving severe pain in clinic, and also the most widely used powerful analgesic in the world.
In foreign countries, it is common to use morphine for cancer pain. In the tumor ward, sometimes when nurses use morphine for cancer pain patients, they will say to the patients warmly: Your goddess (Morpheus) is coming! However, in China, people's concept of morphine still remains in the concept of opium drugs, addiction and other concepts, and they reject opiates. They often turn to the doctor when they can't stand the pain. At this time, pain control has become very difficult. Usually, large doses of opioids are needed to relieve the pain. While treating pain, the side effects of high-dose morphine drugs, such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, lethargy, etc., will also trouble patients, making them resist opioids again and making treatment more difficult.
The best way to solve this problem is to give pain treatment at the early stage of cancer pain. However, at present, many patients and even doctors in China do not pay enough attention to early cancer pain, which leads to the development of the disease. When patients' pain control is not ideal, they repeatedly increase the drug dose, and finally take large doses of drugs orally, but the pain is still poorly controlled.
Morphine pump can bring better therapeutic effect to such patients. At the same time, morphine pump is also the ultimate means of cancer pain treatment!
The morphine pump directly injects analgesic drugs into the subarachnoid space and directly acts on the morphine receptors in the spinal cord and brain, thus improving the therapeutic effect of strong analgesics such as morphine. The dosage is only 1/300 of the oral dosage, which greatly reduces the side effects of the drug.
Implantation process of morphine pump
Implantation of morphine pump under local anesthesia or intravenous anesthesia: the operation is carried out in 1 to 2 intervertebral spaces under the target intervertebral space, and the catheter is sent to the target level along the trocar after being punctured into the subarachnoid space with a trocar. Then the morphine pump is buried under the abdomen (chest), and the catheter and the morphine pump are connected through the subcutaneous tunnel to adjust the morphine dose.
The vast majority of cancer pain patients can receive morphine pump treatment, and achieve good therapeutic effect. In addition, when various non cancerous intractable pain and multiple treatment methods are ineffective, morphine pump treatment can also be selected.
