In accordance with the Guidelines for Mental Health Education in Primary and Secondary Schools (revised in 2012) issued by the Ministry of Education, the plan of striving for schools with characteristics of mental health education in primary and secondary schools was launched in 2014. According to the requirements of the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on the Implementation of the Plan of Striving for School with Characteristics of Mental Health Education in Primary and Secondary Schools (JYTH [2014] No. 14, hereinafter referred to as the Notice), on the basis of the review and recommendation of provincial education departments and the comprehensive review of relevant experts, Now 205 primary and secondary schools, including the Middle School Affiliated to Renmin University of China, are identified and named as the first batch of national schools with characteristics of mental health education in primary and secondary schools (hereinafter referred to as "characteristic schools").
It is hoped that local education departments will attach great importance to the pioneering work of characteristic schools, further play the exemplary and leading role of characteristic schools, strengthen regional cooperation and exchanges, and promote the common improvement of mental health education in primary and secondary schools. At the same time, all localities are requested to carry out the second batch of featured schools' striving for success according to the requirements of the Notice, and provincial education departments are requested to recommend 5-8 schools with outstanding work according to the local striving for success before September 30, 2016 and submit them to the First Division of Basic Education of the Ministry of Education.
