At the event site, the leaders present awarded honorary plaques to the outstanding units of "Ten Major Responsibility Subjects for Domestic Waste Classification in Xicheng District in 2023", commending them for their efforts and achievements in conscientiously fulfilling the responsibilities of garbage classification subjects and doing a good job of the first responsible person for garbage classification since the implementation of the new version of Beijing Municipal Domestic Waste Management Regulations four years ago.

It is reported that since the implementation of the new version of Beijing Municipal Domestic Waste Management Regulations, Xicheng District has set up a waste classification work headquarters to clarify the division of responsibilities of 26 member units. Relying on the overall scheduling mechanism of the waste classification headquarters, it has organized all member units and sub district offices to hold regular meetings on waste classification work for work training, arrangement and Q&A, Systematically promote waste classification.

Since the middle of April this year, Xicheng District has actively mobilized and organized various industries and streets to continuously strengthen the domestic waste classification publicity. Wang Bing, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Urban Management Committee of Xicheng District, said that Xicheng District will take the opportunity of the National Urban Domestic Waste Classification Week to consolidate the achievements of the four years since the implementation of the new regulations and do a good job in publicity guidance and facilities construction. At the same time, through the establishment of waste classification demonstration communities, a batch of excellent communities were systematically upgraded to form stable and replicable management experience, which played a demonstration and driving role in other communities and improved the overall waste classification level of Xicheng District.

Wang Zhongfeng, deputy head of Xicheng District People's Government, put forward requirements for waste classification work: First, the waste classification publicity work should reach the grass-roots level directly, and should be comprehensively promoted through various forms such as entering communities, units, schools, and households. We will use the volunteer Beijing platform to do a good job in grassroots governance and expand the ranks of waste classification volunteers. The second is to strengthen the precise implementation of policies and form a long-term mechanism. Give play to the role of the waste classification joint meeting system, hold regular meetings, solve the bottleneck problem of waste classification, and constantly explore innovative measures such as "reward instead of compensation" and "source reduction". Nearly 200 people from 15 sub district offices, representatives of ten major responsible entities for waste classification, representatives of 26 member units of Xicheng District Garbage Classification Work Headquarters, and representatives of Yuetan Sub district Headquarters in Beijing and the CPC Committee attended the event.
