This tutorial is applicable to Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista, and XP computers, as well as HP Printer Assistant, HP Solution Center, or HP Device Toolkit softwareInstall HP drivers and software for printers on Windows computers. If the system prompts you to select a connection type during installation, select the wired network or Ethernet option.
Step 1: Prepare for driver installation and network connection
Before installing the driver, make sure that you are using a working network router and network cable.
1. Make sure that the network router, switch, and hub you are using are equipped with available Ethernet ports.
2. Make sure your computer is connected to a router, switch, or hub.
3. Obtain the network cable. Please do not use a standard telephone line.
Step 2: Connect the printer to the network
Connect the network cable to the printer and router, switch, or hub so that the printer can be found during installation.
1. Start the printer.
2. Unplug all plugs or protective covers on the Ethernet port on the back of the printer.
3. Connect one end of the network cable to a port on the printer, and then connect the other end to an available port on a network router, switch, or hub.
Step 3: Install the software
Install the printer driver through the HP website or through Windows.
1. Start the printer.
2. If your printer is connected to the computer through a USB cable, please unplug the cable from the printer immediately.
3. Driver download. It is recommended to use the HP printer driver download service provided on the official HP technical support website to obtain the official driver, instead of bundling all kinds of messy plug-ins and software.
4. If prompted, please select a method to determine your printer model, and then follow the instructions on the screen to enter the download page.
5. Click Download next to Full Function Driver (Recommended), or click Basic Driver to select another driver option.
