CILS is useful for those who learn Italian, for those who work and study in an Italian environment, and for those who want to assess their Italian ability. Each CILS level represents the ability to communicate in different environments and situations.
The CILS exam is held in June and December every year Siena University for Foreigners It was held twice with other overseas institutions. The certificate was recognized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was also a requirement for most Italian universities to enroll new students.
All Italian citizens and non Italian speakers living abroad can take the exam. There is no age limit and no education or diploma is required. There is no need for the first successful full CILS exam. Encourage each candidate to prepare for the CILS exam to meet his/her needs.
The CILS certification system follows the outline of the EU Common Language Reference Framework: learning, teaching, assessment, and the initiative of Europeans to assess language ability.

CILS standard
There are four CILS standards. In order to obtain a certificate for one of them, you need to take an exam consisting of five parts: listening, reading, grammatical structure analysis, writing, and speaking.
There are two PRE-CILS standards for beginners who use Italian as a second language.

There is no age limit. Neither any academic certificate nor a lower level CILS certificate is required. CILS certificates can be used in different situations. CILS 1 guarantees the ability of daily communication. CILS 2 allows students to register in Italian universities without having to take the entrance language test. CILS 3 and CILS 4 enable students to obtain more scores on the ranking table.
For the University of Seattle for Foreigners, only with CILS 3 can enter the "Italian Language and Culture Advanced Course" and the "Italian Language Teaching Course for Teachers", while with CILS 4 can enter the "Italian Advanced Course for Foreigners" and the "Professional School for Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language".
In order to obtain CILS and Pre CILS certificates, candidates need to exceed the passing score of each exam. If the candidate has only a few passes, these pass scores are valid for one year, and the candidate needs to take other failed examinations in the next year.

Since June 2011, the examination fee for CILS has been adjusted accordingly,
The details are as follows:
Examination registration fee: A2: 660 yuan B1: 770 yuan B2: 880 yuan C1: 1100 yuan
Single subject make-up examination fee: A2: 150 yuan B1: 170 yuan B2: 190 yuan C1: 240 yuan
Local students can apply on site. Please submit a copy of ID card or passport and a recent one inch photo
Non local students can apply by fax, which includes the application form, copies of ID card or passport, and copies of the remittance slip. [1]

There are four levels - beginner, beginner, intermediate and advanced. The CILS exam consists of five parts:
1. Hearing test
2. Reading comprehension
3. Language use
4. Essay writing
5. Oral test
You must pass the corresponding exam to obtain the CILS certificate. All these examination papers are printed and graded in the Certificate Center of Siena Foreign University according to the outline stipulated by the EU. Candidates who reach the minimum score in each volume can obtain the certificate. If the examinee does not reach the minimum score on all the test papers, he or she needs to take the test again. The examinee only needs to take the part where the score is not enough. Once obtained, the certificate is valid for one year. After one year, candidates must take all examinations to obtain the certificate.
