On April 21, 2024, the world's first high-precision lunar geological atlas based on the scientific exploration data of the China Lunar Exploration Project (Chang'e Project), including the Chinese and English versions of the 1:2.5 million Lunar Full Moon Geological Atlas and the 1:2.5 million Lunar Sectional Geological Atlas, was officially released.Among them, the 1:2.5 million Lunar Full Moon Geological Atlas includes the 1:2.5 million Lunar Rock Type Distribution Map.

The latest high-precision lunar geological atlas was led by Ouyang Ziyuan, academician of the Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Liu Jianzhong, a researcher, together with scientists and cartographers from Jilin University, Shandong University, China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Institute of Geology, Chinese Academy of Geosciences, and Institute of Geographic Sciences and Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences,It has been jointly researched and prepared since 2012.[1]
