After retirement, Chen Jing goes toSouth China Normal UniversityHe studied for a doctor's degree in sports psychology, stayed in school to engage in table tennis teaching and university sports tennis teaching after graduation, and was evaluated as an associate professor in July 2007.In April 2012, Chen Jing was assessed as qualified as a professor.[24]
Chen Jing was born on September 20, 1968 in Wuhan, Hubei Province.
At the age of 11, Chen Jing was selected by the Hubei Provincial Team because she won the championship of the junior group in the table tennis match held in Wuhan Children's Palace.
In 1986, Chen Jing joined the national team.In the same year, Chen Jing participated in the national championship on behalf of Hubei team, winning 12 games and losing 1 game.[1][17]
At the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, Chen Jing, the third main player in the singles of the Chinese team, defeated Bratova of the former Soviet Union and Helahova of the Czech Republic in the quarter finals and semi-finals, and defeated her teammates 3-2 in the finalsLi Huifen, won the championship and became the first women's singles champion of table tennis in the history of the Olympic Games.[4]In the doubles match, Chen Jing/Jiao ZhiminIn the semi-final, the team narrowly defeated the Yugoslav team Fazric/Perkuqin, entered the final and lost to the South Korean teamXuanjinghe/Liang Yingzi, won the runner up.[17]After the Seoul Olympic Games, Chen Jing retired bravely and chose to return to play for the Chinese Taipei Team until 1993.[16]

On January 2, 2001, Chen Jing officially signed a contract with Guangdong Fudi Table Tennis Club.[6]On January 31, Chen Jing made her debut in the Premier League of China Table Tennis Club, but lost 0-2 (19-21, 15-21) to Gao Xi of Tianjin Samsung Team.[7]On February 11, Chen Jing defeated Qiao Hong 2-0 in the 9th round of women's team of Luneng Cup Table Tennis Super League to win her first victory in the league.[22]On May 10, Chen Jing announced that she would not participate in the Olympic Games.[21]
