The college was founded in 1975, its predecessor is the National Seismological BureauTianshui Earthquake SchoolIn 1985, it was upgraded and renamed as "Earthquake Technology College", and in 1992, it was renamed as“Disaster Prevention Technology College”In February 2006, it was upgraded to "Disaster Prevention Science and Technology College".
As of June 2022, the college library has more than 1.03 million paper books, and the total value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment assets is 340 million yuan;It has 14 teaching units, 35 undergraduate majors, and 1 master's talent training project serving the special needs of the country;There are more than 9200 full-time students.[3][32]
In 1975, the state established the "Tianshui Earthquake School of the State Seismological Bureau".
In 1983, the school moved to Yanjiao National High tech Industrial Development Zone, Sanhe City, Langfang City, Hebei Province, and changed its name to "Seismological School of the National Seismological Bureau".
In 1985, the state approved the establishment of "Earthquake Technology College".
In 1992, it was renamed "Disaster Prevention Technology College".

In 2006, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed as "College of Disaster Prevention Science and Technology".
In 2011, it was approved as the second batch of colleges and universities in the Ministry of Education's "Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Plan".
In 2012, it was approved as a pilot unit for postgraduate training of master's degree of engineering in the "talent training project for special needs of the country".
In 2013, we began to enroll graduate students for master's degree.[5]
