Changsha University of Technology was formed by the merger of Changsha Institute of Communications, formerly affiliated to the Ministry of Communications of the People's Republic of China, and Changsha Institute of Electric Power, formerly affiliated to the State Power Corporation of the People's Republic of China[2]。
Changsha Jiaotong University
Changsha Jiaotong University was founded in January 1956 as Changsha Aviation Engineering School.In the course of running the school, the name of the school has been changed several times, and it is successively Hunan Aviation Engineering School, Hunan Aviation School, Hunan Communications University, etc.Later, due to the "Cultural Revolution", the school was once closed.In 1971, the school resumed running and was renamed as Hunan Provincial Communications School.In 1978, with the approval of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, it was named Changsha Jiaotong University and became an undergraduate college directly under the Ministry of Communications.In October 1986, Changsha Jiaotong University became a postgraduate recruitment unit, whose major was "automobile application engineering", which achieved the breakthrough of "zero" in Changsha Jiaotong University and later Changsha University of Technology.Since 2000, the school has implemented the management system of "co construction between the central and local governments, focusing on local management"system[2][103]。

Changsha Electric Power University
Changsha Electric Power Institute was originally the Changsha Hydropower School, which was built in early 1956.Since its establishment, the school name has changed several times, including Changsha Hydropower School, Changsha Geological Drilling School, Changsha Hydropower School, etc.In 1983, it established Changsha Normal University of Water Resources and Electric Power on the basis of secondary professional schools in Hunan Province, which is a university under the Ministry of Electric Power of the People's Republic of China.In 1994, the school was officially renamed as Changsha Electric Power Institute, which is still under the management of the Ministry of Electric Power of the People's Republic of China.Since January 1995, Changsha Electric Power Institute has joined Huazhong Electric Power Group and started to implement the management system of "jointly led by the Ministry and the electric power group, and dominated by the electric power group".In July 2001 and May 2002, the former Hunan Water Conservancy and Hydropower School and the former Hunan Light Industry College were incorporated into the college[2]。

Formal establishment
In April 2003, Changsha University of Technology was officially established with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Hunan Province.In September, it was identified as a doctoral degree awarding unit.In October of the same year, Changsha University of Technology held a listing instrumenttype[2][103]。In 2004, its new campus was located in Yuntang, and the construction of the new campus was included in the "Key Project of Hunan Province".The following year, the board of directors of Changsha University of Technology was established, and the construction project of Yuntang Campus was inauguratedbase[32]。

In 2006, Changsha University of Technology held its 50th anniversary celebration, and Yuntang Campus was officially put into use.The following year, Changsha University of Technology passed the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and was awarded "Excellent"[32]。In 2008, the People's Government of Hunan Province and the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China jointly issued a document to jointly build Changsha University of Science and Technology, and put forward the development strategy of "building the school with quality, prospering the school with disciplines, strengthening the school with talents, and governing the school in harmony".In the same year, the first Confucius Institute of the University was inaugurated at the University of Liberia, and it was moved to Yuntang New School as a wholearea[28]。

In 2015, the Third Congress of the Communist Party of China Changsha University of Technology was held, proposing the strategic goal of building "Top 100" universities[32]。In the same year, the second Confucius Institute of Changsha University of Technology, namely, the Confucius Institute of Montenegro University, was inaugurated[28]。It also established the International College, and the Constitution of Changsha University of Technology was officially approved and promulgated by the Education Department of Hunan Province.In 2016, Changsha University of Science and Technology was the first to receive funding from the National Science and Technology Foundation of China for the cultivation of major research programs[32]。In October 2016, the school held the "Double First Class" and 60th Anniversary Ceremonymeeting[34]。

In 2017, Changsha University of Technology passed the Ministry of Education's teaching work review and assessment.In the next year, it was selected as the "domestic first-class university construction university (Class A)" in Hunan Province[32]。In 2019, Changsha University of Science and Technology fixedly helped the village Jianganshan Village in Xinning County to shake off poverty, and published the first "ideological and political curriculum" textbook in Hunan Province.In December of the same year, the third Confucius Institute jointly built with the University of Sabah in Malaysia was inauguratedstand[32][35]。In 2021, the Fourth Congress of the Communist Party of China, Changsha University of Technology, was successfully held and put forward the "124455" development strategy, that is, to establish "one goal", adhere to the "two-step" strategy, build "four bases", achieve "four development", adhere to the "five roads", and build "five long-term principles".In the same year, Changsha University of Technology also held a series of activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China[32][36]。

The Chinese version is in Mao Zedong's handwriting. The inner layer uses the combination of the Changsha initial letters C and S to form the word "I".Among them, the shape of the letter C is similar to that of a bridge and a road, representing the original Jiaotong College, while the vertical of the word "I" is a lightning shaped character, representing the original Electric Power College. Jiuyun Fangding is located in Yuntang Campus of Changsha University of Technologywithin[43], made of granite, with a height of 19.56 meters, implying that Changli began in 1956.The top of the nine cloud square tripod is a square inverted pyramid. Yunying Lake
Yunying Lake is the inner lake of Yuntang Campus of Changsha University of Technology, which is expanded from natural waters and is located in front of Yuntang Library.The word "cloud and shadow" comes from Zhu Xi's "Feeling of Reading", which says that once the half acre pond is opened, the sky is bright and the clouds and shadows are wandering together. The canal is so clear that there is a source of fresh water ".In front of Yunying Lake stands a huge stone engraved with three powerful characters "Yunying Lake", which was written by the calligrapher Yan Jialong.
