Doctor Hoe was filmed by Wushulin Sugar Factory in Xinying Town (now Xinying District, Tainan City), Tainan County.When he went to Wushulin Sugar Factory to survey the scenery, He Dongxing, the director of Doctor Hoe, liked it at first sight, because Wushulin Sugar Factory was quite in line with the background of the times in the play, and because it had been abandoned for many years, it presented a desolate and nostalgic atmosphere.Doctor Hoe is the first local drama directed by He Dongxing.
Originally, Chen Jiayu, Yuan Qiongqiong and Zhang Longguang were planned to be the screenwriters of Doctor Hoe. Chen Jiayu was responsible for episodes 1 to 10, Yuan Qiongqiong for episodes 10 to 20, and Zhang Longguang for episodes after 20;However, in late October 1989, only the script of Chen Jiayu was used.According to Chen Jiayu's autobiography, the story background of the play was shot by borrowing scenes from the agricultural reserve near her home under her inspiration.Yu Furuo of "Suzuki Academy" is responsible for the costume modeling of "Doctor Hoe".
