Track Introduction

Announce
edit
Silverstone, located in the heart of the UK, is one of the most frequent car racing tracks in the world, and Silverstone is the birthplace of the British racing industry. The predecessor of Silverstone is a military airport in World War II. The British Grand Prix was held in 1948 and became the first race in 1950 F1 The arena of the World Championships. Although the world's first F1 race was held, Silverstone is not the only venue for the British Grand Prix. Since 1955, the British Grand Prix has been held alternately by Aintree and Silverstone. In 1964, the British Grand Prix and Bran DS Hatch track is held in turn. It was not until 1987 that Silverstone became the synonym of the British Grand Prix. [1]

Track characteristics

edit
In 1973, Jody Scheckte's car skidded during the Woodcote curve race at Silverstone, resulting in a series of accidents in which eight cars collided. To this end, the track side added a deceleration curve at Woodcote, and then made further modifications to Woodcote in 1991, 1994, 1996 and 1997. In the face of the increasingly fierce competition for the host country of F1 Grand Prix, Silverstone has also been constantly improving its muddy roads and serious traffic problems to avoid falling behind and being eliminated.
Silverstone has a long straight track and high-speed curves, which not only tests the performance of the car, but also tests the limits of the driver's driving skills and courage. In 1999, Michael Schumacher broke his leg here. It was not until the final race of Suzuka Grand Prix in Japan that Mika won the championship- Hakkinen Won.
The speed of Silverstone is very fast. It requires excellent aerodynamic devices, which is very challenging for drivers and cars. The level of Abbey turn, Priory turn and Luffeild turn of the last S turn is quite high. Drivers generally use intermediate downforce adjustment. The starting line of this track is very strange. Not every driver can see the departure signal. Because the drivers waiting in line for departure are lined up on a curve, so that the drivers at the back of the row cannot directly see the signal light, so you must pay attention to the drivers in front and act according to their circumstances.
