Approval of Southwest Communications College
Chongqing Jiaotong University was formerly Southwest Jiaotong CollegeScience school.[2]In 1951, in order to build Sichuan Tibet Highway,Deng XiaopingUnder the leadership of the Southwest Military and Political Commission, it was decided to set up the Southwest Traffic College in Chongqing;On November 7, Southwest Transportation College was officially established.[3]
Since then, the school has changed its name for many times. In 1952, the school was renamed as the Southwest Jiaotong School in the nature of technical secondary school.In 1953, it was renamed as Chongqing Highway School, under the leadership of the Southwest Highway Administration Bureau of the Central Ministry of Communications.In 1954, it was renamed Southwest Highway School of the Ministry of Communications. Since September, it has been under the direct leadership of the Central Ministry of Communications.In 1955, it was renamed Chongqing Highway Engineering School under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Communications.In December 1956, it was handed over to the leadership of the General Administration of Roads of the Ministry of Communications for management, and in November of the same year, it was handed over to the Education Bureau of the Ministry of Communications for management.In July 1958, the secondary specialized schools under the Ministry of Communications were decentralized, and Chongqing Highway School under the Ministry of Communications was under the management of Sichuan Provincial Department of Transportation.In August, the school was renamed as Sichuan Chongqing Highway Engineering School, which was the last change of name during the technical secondary school period.[3][97]
In August 1960, the Civil Engineering Department of Chengdu Institute of Technology, the Hydraulic Engineering Department of Wuhan Water Transport University, and the Metallurgy Department of Sichuan Metallurgy University moved to Chongqing Highway Engineering School in Sichuan Province to jointly establish Chongqing Institute of Communications, which is located seven kilometers away from Nan'an District, Chongqing.In July 1963, with the approval of the State Council, Chongqing Jiaotong University was put under the leadership of the Ministry of Transport.In September 1971, Chongqing Jiaotong University merged with Chongqing Institute of Architecture and Engineering.It was merged with Chongqing Institute of Architecture and Engineering in 1972.In 1979, Chongqing Jiaotong University was restored and Chongqing Aviation Engineering School was incorporated.[3][97]

In January 1979, the Ministry of Transport decided to restore Chongqing Jiaotong University and put it under the direct management of the Ministry of Transport.In May of the same year, Chongqing Aviation Engineering School merged with Chongqing Jiaotong University, and the headquarters of the school moved from Chongqing Institute of Architecture and Engineering to the site of Chongqing Aviation Engineering School - Huangshaxi, Yuzhong District, Chongqing.In July 1984, the headquarters of Chongqing Jiaotong University moved back to Nan'an District of Chongqing seven kilometers in succession.In 1985, with the approval of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Chongqing Jiaotong University was added to the third batch of master's degree awarding units.In 1986, the Southwest Water Transport Engineering Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Communications was incorporated into Chongqing Jiaotong University.In December 1999, Chongqing Jiaotong School (River Transport School) was incorporated into the school;In January 2000, the school was transferred from the Ministry of Transport to Chongqing, and implemented a management system that was jointly built by the central and local governments and focused on Chongqing.In December 2000, Chongqing Traffic Technical School (Chongqing Traffic Science and Technology School) was under the management of the school.[3]

Nan'an Campus
Chongqing Jiaotong University Nan'an Campus is located in the south of ChongqingNo. 66 Xuefu Avenue, An District.[2]The campus covers an area of about 500 mu.[2][43]There are 17 teaching institutions in the campus, including School of Civil Engineering, Hohai University, School of Transportation, School of Foreign Languages, School of Humanities, etc., and there are comprehensive experimental building, the first teaching building, harbor building, the fourth teaching building, stadium, etcFacilities.[44]
Science City Campus of Chongqing Jiaotong UniversityLocated at No. 1, Fuxing Avenue, Shuangfu New District, Chongqing, the campus covers an area of 2400 mu, with a total construction area of 637200 square meters. It is the administrative center of the school and a teaching and research park focusing on science and engineering disciplines and basic disciplines.As of May 2024, the Science City campus is still under construction, with about 450000 square meters of school running facilities including the public teaching building, the German Garden, the Ritual Garden student dormitory and canteen, the student activity center, the civil discipline cluster, the Western Academy of Sciences cluster, and the wind and rain playground.The campus was officially put into use in September 2011. Historical buildings
The historical buildings in the school - the Red Building and the Brothel are located in the south bank campus of Chongqing Jiaotong University. They were built from 1943 to 1954. They are named after the color of the wall tiles and are the teaching buildings of Chongqing Highway Engineering School.Both the brothel and the red building are "imitated Su style buildings", which are symmetrical on the left and right axes, and have a "three section" structure of eaves, wall body and plinth due to their regular plane.The wall is brick pointing, the roof is inclined, and there is a ring of protruding lace above the door opening and around the windows. The main door of the Red Mansion is also exquisitely carved.In 2018, historical buildings were selected into the second batch of 81 historical buildings in Chongqing.In 2023, it will appear in the eighth batch of China's 20th century architectural heritage project promotion list.[102]
Lizihu is located in the Science City Campus of Chongqing Jiaotong University.[103]The water area is 115 mu, the natural environment is good, and the line of sight is wide.[101]The lakeside is breezy, and there are swans in the lakeanimal.[104]
