Border movement is a proper term for stomatology. It is the maximum opening, forward extension, backward movement and lateral movement of the mandible, ligament or other soft tissues.
The maximum range of mandibular opening in normal conditions is 84.0 ± 15.5mm from the cutting end of the upper and lower incisors, 10.5 ± 2.2mm from the central jaw, 0.5~1.0mm from the back, and 10.0 ± 1.9mm from the left to the right.
