Professional football
In terms of professional football, Meizhou established the city's first Meixian Hakka and Meizhou Hakka two secondary professional football clubs in 2013, becoming the third city outside Guangzhou and Shenzhen to establish professional football clubs in Guangdong. In 2015 and 2017, Meizhou Wuhua Team and Meixian Tiehan Team successfully won the championship. In January 2018, a Guangdong women's first class football team settled in Wuhua,Meizhou has become a rare city with three A-level football teams.[18]
Meizhou Wuhua Football Club settled in Meizhou Wuhua in 2017, and successfully surpassed in 2018.
