On February 11, 1873, King Amadeo hastily abdicated under the increasingly tense domestic situation. The parliament announced the establishment of a republic, and the bourgeois republicans formed a temporary government. The election of the Constituent Assembly was held on May 10, and the republicans won. In June, the Constituent Assembly was convened to establish a federal republic. In July, the uncompromising faction advocating the establishment of autonomous "independent states" launched an anti-government uprising and established state governments in various regions. The government of the Republic has diverged in dealing with the uncompromising faction and other issues, while facing Carlos Pie New war threats, losing control of the situation. In January 1874, the capital garrison launched a coup and the Republic was overthrown. [1]
