Ideographic symbol is one of the two major information transmission and recording symbol systems before the production of characters. The other system is "picture writing". The ideographic symbol finally develops into the character of pointing things; Pictorial characters finally developed into hieroglyphs. Chinese characters developed from the two paths of pointing and pictograph, and finally became phonetic characters combining form and meaning. [1]

Ideographic symbols and pictorial characters are two systems that develop in parallel, and eventually lose their extensive social role after the formal formation of characters. At first, ideographic symbols were only used by individuals, and later gradually shared meanings in a small range. This kind of symbol has been more common in the Yangshao culture period (5000-3000 BC). [1]
