The New Book of the Tang Dynasty, after receiving the Department of Ku Shuo, said, "A little southeast will lead to a total of ten days." The historical circles have different understandings of "a little southeast" from the Department of Heishui or the Department of Ku Shuo. At present, there are many people saying that it is about the southeast of today's Kuye Island, in the south of Kuye Island and around Xihete Mountain, or in the coastal area east of the lower reaches of Heilongjiang. It is actually one of the earliest recorded ancestors of the indigenous people of Sakhalin Island today. It is said today that this part was called Guwei in the Yuan Dynasty, and it was called Kuyi or Kuwu in the Ming Dynasty. It was made as Kuye in the Qing Dynasty, and Kuye Island was named for its transliteration. [1]
