City Profile
The combined port of Superior Duluth is one of the ports with the largest deadweight tonnage of cargo in the United States. In the late 18th century, it became a fur trading town. In 1833, iron ore was found nearby and developed rapidly. There are oil refineries, ship repair plants, and flour, can, beer brewing, timber and other industries. Wisconsin State University is located here.
