National Academy of Sciences

Member of the National Academy of Sciences, founded in 1863 with the authorization of Lincoln, the then President of the United States, is a private organization composed of scientists and engineers, dedicated to providing scientific and technical advice and suggestions to the United States federal government. The elected academician is considered to be one of the highest honors in American academic circles.

By May 2022, there are 2512 academicians and 517 foreign academicians of the American Academy of Sciences; Among them, 26 are Chinese academicians.^[7-8]
